Yale Interview?

I am a junior who is planning on applying SCEA to Yale in the fall. I was just wondering if it would be better to sign up for an on-campus interview in the summer rather than an alumni interview. When I went to the info session, they said that sometimes, at the on-campus interview you can interact directly with the adcoms. Does it make a difference which interview I go for?

I don’t think it matters much, but if you really want an interview, I’d ask for an on-campus one first. Not all applicants get an alumni interview.

@IxnayBob Thanks for the input! Although I live in an area with a decent amount of alumni, I was just exploring other options. I was considering the on campus because I feel more comfortable talking to a person closer to my age and relatable. Does anyone have any experience with the on-campus interviews?

@Motodile, DS had both an on-campus interview with a senior and an alumni interview. I have heard that they no longer do both for a candidate. He found both of them interesting, both of them strengthened his desire to attend Yale, but neither of them was, in his words, “a big deal.”

“I have heard that they no longer do both for a candidate.” Correct. If an applicant interviews on campus (or applies through Questbridge – who are all interviewed by Admissions staff), their names aren’t sent to local alumni committees.
