Yale NUS Class of 2020

where do you get your yale nus login info?

@minirafa it should be sent to you by email when you submitted your application

Is Yale-NUS big on deferrals or do they reject a lot of candidates in the initial round?

@pubkid i read somewhere that those who had the interview are rarely rejected ( either accepted or at least deferred) but maybe i just made that up haha not sure where i got this information from. Guyss , results should be out in less than day?

less than a day??? i thought tmr at about this time :OO?

@pubkid It’s actually rarer to be deferred than rejected. Each round, they have a certain quota they allow to be accepted, so qualified applicants can be admitted each round equally without biases going to a certain round (i.e. applying early/earlier). Therefore, unless they are really on the fence on your application and they want to reconsider you in light of other applicants, they’re more likely to reject you; they know they’ll have enough qualified people each round so deferrals are not too necessary. The only other reason they’ll defer you is if you are being considered for a merit scholarship, and want to compare you against other applicants to see if it should be awarded (because they only give out, for example, 3-10 Global Leader full ride scholarships). I don’t want this to sound bad, just so you guys know what to expect! If you get rejected, doesn’t mean your weak–just not what they’re looking for! Likewise, if you get deferred, it isn’t a bad sign–I got deferred yet ended up getting a merit scholarship so you never know! Good luck guys; should be seeing results tomorrow early early morning (for US) and Thursday evening (Singapore).

Tried to stay detached, but oh God I’m so nervous about tomorrow. Good luck to everyone! Let’s post here after we receive the results!

@bsb4389 So getting deferred can… actually be a good thing? Hahaha wow this is so wacky. Do they ever give merit scholarships to first-round applicants?

@pubkid Yes, sometimes deferral can be a good thing. Weird, right? And yes, they give merit scholarships to first-rounds, but really really really incredible applicants. Otherwise, most likely deferral in order to compare. Decisions come out tonight for US (changed to afternoon Singapore time!).

Is it 2 PM Singapore time?

Where do you get your temporary pin for the yale nus login? is it the same as your yale login?

@letmethink is it?? i thought it’s five?

@chihayafuru I was speculating, unfortunately no official time has been posted on the portal.

The email just gave details about when decisions were going to be released for both colleges.

I was hoping decisions would be released December 10th Singapore time… Which means tonight. But maybe not?

@mjstewart1224 yess that’s for sure, it is tonight

@letmethink i think for last year it was 7 pm (acceptance) rejection came at 10…

Wait someone should email and see what time decisions are coming out hahah
Trying to decide whether or not to stay up all night…

I want to check my Yale decision together with my Yale NUS decision… I don’t want the time stamp of the email to give it away :

They release acceptances and rejections seperately? That seems odd.
