Yale-NUS College Class of 2022

@achilleees haha sure I’m still waiting to be accepted into the FB group though

hey guys, i got WAITLISTED and I am so surprised!! I didn’t even write their supplement essay…anyone else didn’t write it and got waitlisted/accepted?

@KitePhantom I sent it through my school! You can probably just ask your school to send it anyways just to prove it’s your real grades or something. I bet the red x is kinda annoying HAHAHA

@petitpois5 Hey! I actually didn’t write it either and got accepted! It’s truly optional

Hi!

I was waitlisted too after not sending the supplemental essay in. Why was I waitlisted, though? Like, there’s a Round 2 right now- shouldn’t I, technically, be deferred to it?

Hi all! I’m so honoured to have the privilege of meeting, stressing, and conversing about Yale-NUS with you. As the original creator of this thread, it’s been a real rollercoaster on the road to Yale-NUS and I’m so incredibly excited to be embarking on it with many of you, and many more to come. I wish you all the best in your post-secondary educational experiences and hope this thread continues to be a place where your dreams can turn into reality!

@afterthought hey! I’m actually not sure if there’s a difference between deferred and waitlisted, it might actually mean the same thing? not sure tho

@Changi17 congrats!! are you coming for eyw?

@jyjyjy Yea the red X is definitely annoying! I uploaded mine on my own cuz I didn’t wanna bother anyone at my school hahaha

@Changi17 Hey! Thank you so much for creating this thread! It goes without saying that everyone here (newly joined or not!) has been able to find a place of comfort and solace in this thread as we all strive on getting into YNC! I honestly can’t wait to see how you’re gonna impact the student life there! XD You’ve done something incredible here already! Thank you so much for this, I’m really grateful!

@ahmed97 @petitpois5 how did you guys manage to submit the application without submitting the additional essay? Won’t the Review section flag your Essay section saying one or two essays are missing? Anyway, props for getting in even without an additional essay XD I don’t think I could pull that off

Yes! @achilleees I will be there

@KitePhantom yes i’m local and did A levels! I listed my form teacher as the school official and he helped to verify my results.

@petitpois5 I ended up forgetting to write their essay and I got accepted, hence my shookedness!

so funny knowing your real names already HAHAHA see you all on EYW!

@ariiel congrats!!! good luck for your interview too! can i just ask, what do you think stood out about your application the most? just trying to see what they review first haha

Just got an email asking for my academic transcript which is odd. Cos I’m pretty sure my school submitted it but oh wells. Hopefully it’s a good sign cos it means they’re finally looking at my application! Anyway, the admissions team must be working crazy overtime if they’re sending me emails on a Sunday!!!

@jyjyjy congrats!!! that has to be a good sign! are you an international student or local?

Rejected…

Ahhh it’s been so long since I commented on CC. Have been a lurker since the beginning, but was never able to login in because I forgot my username and password :-/. Anyway, short story about my application to Yale-NUS. I honestly never realized I applied. I submitted my Yale application and checked off the Yale-NUS box thinking it was some study abroad program. Then I suddenly get an email telling me to do a mandatory interview and that’s when I realized I applied to another separate college. So after setting an interview appointment, I took it upon myself to study a heck ton about Yale-NUS. DAYUM… IT’S AMAZING. (and the suites look dope) I instantly fell in love. I aced the interview (already did 10 college interviews before then so I kinda knew the process) and formed an instant connection with my interviewer. A day later I got an email concerning my financial aid…and now, last Friday…welp…I’m in. So now im pretty stoked for this EYW event. I submitted the supplementary essay beforehand and literally talked about how the farthest I ever travel was Texas (live in Connecticut in the US), never been on airplane, but ready for adventure. So it’s actually pretty funny I got admitted and I’m really excited to visit the campus (and travel international for the first time on a plane). So anyone out there…congrats and I hope to see you at EYW, and good luck to everyone else still applying, wailisted, or rejected. I know you will make it into an amazing place you can call home. (and when I just log back in after 2 years, I became a Junior Member…)

@samhita local!

Did anyone actually get in to YNC with bad/low grades in their most recent exams?

hello, has anyone applying Round 2 received their interview invitation?
