Hi! Are they still giving out interview invites? I’m rly worried!
Yes, they are! I was so anxious because I hadn’t heard from them (I applied last minute but still) and I thought the deadline was yesterday but I got an interview invite just a few minutes ago! They must have a lot of work, I didn’t expect to be contacted on a Saturday. You can still get yours, don’t worry too much!!!
Hi! Did you get your interview call! (I haven’t received one either!) Please let me know when you do! Thank you!
Hi guys! I have already had my interview (feel free to ask me anything about it) and was wondering whether anyone knows when the Round 1 decisions will come out? My interviewer said March 1st but that seems too soon to be true?! Thanks!
@classof2023x For previous years it was around the end of March so I thought it would be the same now, but if your interviewer said so maybe they’ll try and process everything faster? Can you tell us what was the overall atmosphere, how long did it last? I was also wondering how much time you have for each question? For example, do they stop you if you get carried away while answering :)) Also, was it more like a Q&A session or a conversation in which both of you talked equally? I’m sorry for attacking you with so many questions, my interview is in 2 days and I’m getting more nervous by the minute :))
Hey, y’all! What forms do I need to fill out in order to be considered for financial aid?
My daughter had her interview a couple of days ago. Her interviewer also told her that decisions would be out March 1st. It’s less than 2 weeks away!
@idlynh That’s good to hear!! Thank you
@holdenc12 If you log into your application portal there should be something called “Yale-NUS Financial Aid Application.” All you need to do is fill out that application on your portal and then make sure to upload any extra documents that the application asks for on the portal as well. (The application should tell you what additional documents are recommended, it depends on what your citizenship status is and whether you’re an international student or not). Hope that helps. So overall, just check out the form on your application portal. Let me know if you have more questions.
Are they still sending out interview invitations?
@idlynh hahaha no worries at all! The overall atmosphere was actually really chill and the interview lasted exactly 30 minutes! My interviewer didn’t stop me at any point and she was very sweet and encouraging. Definitely more of a conversation rather than a Q&A for me! I wouldn’t stress much, it’s very relaxed. Good luck!
Thank you so much! I’ll try to take it calm and easy! Best of luck to you too, let’s hope for all of us to get good news when decisions come out!!!
@classof2023x Hey! I was actually told by my interviewer that results will be out right before April 1st (which is consistent with the previous years)! This is the first time i have heard of a March 1st results release. If so, I am looking forward to it! All the best to you
Has anyone gotten an interview invite in the last 4 days?
@pettyspaghetti
I got an email for an interview today! I’m a US resident /Canadian citizen who also applied to Yale and had my application shared.
Excited!

Does anyone who did an interview want to share some tips? The fact that this interview carries so much weight in comparison to the others I’ve done is a bit scary for sure.
When it comes to college interviews, I’ve found that there are some points you can prepare for. Here are some tips:
- Know how to articulate what your goals are (academic and personal). Know what motivates you and be able to talk about the future you imagine for yourself.
- Be able to talk about what you do for fun or in your free time and why those things are important to you.
- Know how to answer: Why Yale-NUS? Why would you rather go here than in other places? Why do you think Yale-NUS and Singapore are where you should be?
- If there's anything you want the interviewer to know about you, don't feel afraid to bring it up.
- Do a little research. Being informed about the college can show your dedication. You aren't expected to know everything though, so don't worry about being an expert. It just might help to know a little about programs or opportunities at the college that interest you.
- Have questions to ask the interviewer at the end. Preferably ones that cannot be answered by googling them. (Some good examples may be questions about the interviewer's experience at the college or their opinion on a certain matter).
- Overall try to treat it as a conversation. Just relax, breath, and talk :-)
You got this!
@sumguy that’s great!! when did u submit ur app?
Just did the interview and honestly it was the best interview experience I’ve ever had! My interviewer was amazing (he was a senior admissions counselor), everything went really smoothly and I was actually surprised that I didn’t completely block while speaking (which I usually do under pressure). I should have probably talked more about the college and less about myself but looking back now, every topic came naturally, so I guess it is what it is. My interviewer started with the “tell me a bit about yourself” and all the following questions seemed to be tailored according to my answers. He also said that decisions should be out before April 1st.
I submitted it with my Yale app but did the optional essay around Jan 13th iirc.
Interview in 3 hours. Hypehypehypehypehypehype
Edit: just checked. I submitted it Jan 9th. Maybe they were waiting for my midyear report before shortlisting me? (those went out Feb 1st).
