Yale NUS v.s. Wellesley for Economic Majors

Hello from Canada!

I was recently accepted into Yale NUS College for its class of 2020, and I fully plan on majoring in Economics. I was also waitlisted at Wellesley College.

Say I ended up getting off the waitlist for Wellesley, I wanted to ask the CC community for any insight on how graduates from these schools fare in terms of getting jobs, especially in business and/or finance. Ideally, I would love to work in the U.S., but location doesn’t necessarily matter for me - the kinds of jobs do.

I know Wellesley is highly respected in the U.S., but how about Yale-NUS? How are economic graduates from Yale-NUS College doing in terms of getting jobs? Which one would you choose in this situation?

I would love to hear your thoughts

Betty mummy I’ll turn into a ghost and haunt your dreams if you don’t come to Yale NUS xD xP

I don’t believe that Yale-NUS has graduated its first class yet, so there’s no track record of how its students do in the job market. Yale-NUS will not yet be a known quantity to many U.S. employers.

Wellesley and Yale-NUS offer markedly different experiences. Do you want to get in on the ground floor of a grand new venture or be part of school infused with tradition? Suburban MA or Singapore? A predominantly American student body or an international one?

Did you go to the EYW? If so, you probably saw how stinking awesome YNC is! Then that should answer your question for you  And also if you want to work in international business/economics, then Asia is obviously the place to be. Which college you attend is ultimately your call though.
