That's lovely. How does that make it a great school? That it is socially conscious and it might genuinely teach students how to be socially conscious (do they need to be taught)? Do tell.

i just want to attend a school that's not only environmentally conscious, but also one that can influence other schools and surrounding communities.
My friends and I have already been pushing towards cutting down energy usage and establishing a 100% clean energy policy and even planing and meeting our school district architect about constructing green buildings but we're not getting recogition for this becuz it's just a high school and not an ivy

Yale still has a long way to go.

Stanford, Harvard and Dartmouth are at the top.

<a href="http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2007/january24/sustain-012407.html%5B/url%5D">http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2007/january24/sustain-012407.html</a></p>

Yale got a B+ rating not because of it's facilities or campus (all As) but because of the endowment related activities.

"Yale earned a perfect A grade for its efforts in administration, climate change and energy, green building, and shareholder engagement, but received a C for investment priorities and a D in endowment transparency."

I'm not sure what you define as "a long way to go", but if it's achieving Yale's goal of getting emissions down by 10% of its 1990 levels, you're right. If it's moving up from a B+ to an A- to tie Stanford and the like on our report card, well, all we need is a strong second semester ;)

Best,

on a related note about 'green' universities, here are finalists for the College EcoChallenge:
