Yale receives more apps than harvard

Hooray! :)

**** .

booooooooooooooooooo.
let harvard have the lower rate!

Does any article ever appear in the Yale paper that doesn't mention Harvard?

No. Every single article mentions Harvard.

What I find interesting is that Penn received more apps...i think that's weird because it's ED, whereas traditionally EA schools receive many more apps than ED schools do...do you guys think that this is just a freak thing this year or do you think that ED programs are once again becoming more popular? I don't just mean this as regards Penn, but ED in general, as Princeton saw an increase, too (although Penn's was a freakish 21% increase).

penn is also a bigger school i think

My hubbie's comment on hearing the news: Dang! Why this year?

Interestingly, Harvard alumni contribution participation rate has been declining steadily since 2001.

And yeah, Penn got more. So why is Yale saying they top the Ivies? (perhaps they only consider HYP to be the Ivies... in which case maybe they're snobbier than I thought)

the headline says only, "early app stats top ivy rivals," not all ivies. perhaps rightly, yale does not regard penn as a rival.

I wasn't referring at all to competition...and blurblurblur, even though penn is a bigger school i don't know what that has to do with it because yale and harvard have always gotten more early apps because they are SCEA and Penn is ED...so that's why i though it was extremely odd.

Stanford beat both out...

Stanford doesn't count. It has a freakish large amount of Californians who apply because they can't bear to leave California.

About Penn: I think more and more people are starting to think that ED increases your chances. Someone who has little chance would apply to an Ivy ED rather than EA just to give a (useless) "edge".

And Harvard and Yale receive apps from kids in New England who couldn't bear to leave.

"hink more and more people are starting to think that ED increases your chances. Someone who has little chance would apply to an Ivy ED rather than EA just to give a (useless) "edge"."

I thought this too, but then why doesn't Princeton get a lot more ED apps?

Princeton gets considerably fewer apps in general...why? i have no idea.

Yep. The kids freezing their buns off in the northeast and midwest have to be content to stay indoors and watch "The OC" and "Laguna Beach" on TV and dream.

Sounds like we would have had more of a chance at Harvard or Princeton. Maybe we should have applied there ... JK -just kidding!
