Extracurricular Activities:
I have worked ten hours a week 52 weeks a year since my freshman year as an optometric assistant at VisionWorks. I greet and prepare patients to see the doctor.
I’ve played the piano for ten years, participated in no fewer than 24 recitals, competed and won several competitions, and have absolutely loved playing!
I believe literacy is essential to success in any endeavor (not to mention I love to read!) and as a result most of my extracurricular activities are based on literacy.
I am founder and president two years running of Book Club.
I am vice president of New York Street, a club that promotes literacy.
I volunteered 75 hours at the local library, New York Regional, with a focus in the juvenile sections.
I am secretary of Beta Honor Club.
Last year, I was vice president of Science Honor Club and test coordinator of Mu Alpha Theta.
I have also been a member of: National Honor Society, French Honor Society, and The National Society of High School Scholars. Next week is the first club meeting, so I won’t know for sure until then; however, I will be running again for vice president of Science Club and president of French Honor Society. Wish me luck!

The Future!
I plan on majoring in chemistry and biology.

Stopped reading here. Have fun at Yale!

Just out of curiosity - as a 1/8th Native American, have you ever suffered from racial discrimination?

I wouldn’t say you are guaranteed admission to Yale, but your chance of acceptance should be around the percent you gave for your class rank.

thanks for the input!
tumblraddict - I have to say to a degree, yes. not only am I 1/8 native american, but I am also a very involved, dedicated native american. whenever I post on this website, or similar websites i feel as though people immediately assume that that I make stuff up/am just “lucky” enough to be 1/8 and don’t know the first thing about my ancestry. so, yeah, it’s frustrating but oh welllll

Can you provide a specific example? Don’t get me wrong - I’m not trying to insult you or anything - but I’m trying to see how people discriminate against Native Americans (we don’t have many where I live; I literally know no Native Americans at my school).

Your stats could be better. The EC’s seem fine. Beyond that, I can’t say.

Yeah I stopped at the Native Am. part.

You’re probably in.

sigh… 100% asian for me… :(

but good luck!

^^Isn’t it kind of mean to assume that just because the OP is 1/8th Native American he’ll get in?

I promise I did not mean to give people that kind of feeling with my post. The OP wanted people to chance him, and so I did.

@Kaira07:

The admission rate for Native Americans is off th charts because good Native American candidates are so hard to come by due to the incredibly poor education and terrible poverty of most reservations, so when there is one that is qualified he is pretty much a shoe in. (In short: it’s like AA on steroids)
