I really love Yale from what I've read, but I don't have a good "feel" for it, whatever that means. I guess I hear about life at Harvard or Princeton a lot more because I know several people who go there?

Sadly, I won't be able to visit unless I get in. :(

Obviously, Yale has a very diverse student body, but are there any generalizations you can make about students or social life or anything?

sorry this isn't really clear, haha. I'm not feeling particularly articulate right now.

There's a long thread about "Yale or Princeton". I don't adhere to all the generalizations spoken about Princeton (cuz I didn't attend) but can agree with the statements about Y. Do a search on that thread.

We're friendlier, cooler, and more politically/socially active, and way quirkier than any other Ivy tower out there. I was in your same shoes before I got here - I'd heard a lot of good things and it seemed less stuffy than the competition, but it only took me a few HOURS to realize just how important the community feeling is here. The first Yalie I ever met was also one of the friendlier people I'd met, and that turned out to be a commonplace thing. It's just the atmosphere -- very open.

i agree with the general openness/amazingness off the student body. If you get in, you absolutely can't miss Bulldog Days (April 21-23) which will really show you what it means to be a Yalie.
Good luck!
