Yale Summer Session

I was wondering how much exactly does attending Yale Summer Session and getting good grades help your admissions at yale. I did go to YSS and got As. I think I am a very well rounded applicant with the Stats, grades, ECs etc without much of a hook. I am applying EA.

Also on a separate questions: would you guys recommend putting that i attended YSS for my other applications such as Harvard, Princeton etc? I think it shows that I am able to handle college work but also on the other hand shows I prefer yale.

YSS confers no advantage relative to other summer programs or worthy pursuits for admittance into Yale College. Of course put YSS in your other apps. Others won’t hold it against you. Indeed, it’s a nice achievement. Top schools know lots of cross-applying occurs.

yes, you should include the information about YSS in your other applications. My opinion (for what it’s worth) is that it will not prejudice them against you. I don’t think it will ‘get you in’ either. It’s a part of your presentation of who you are: someone who chose to spend the summer taking courses at a top-ranking university’s summer session. Your motivations for doing so were probably mixed: including possibly the search for academic challenge, the desire to spend a month away from home, etc. Probably, those motivations are what your applic readers will assume about you (unless directed otherwise by other parts of your application).
