Don’t worry about these stats. There’s always a first. Our D’23 was the first one to be admitted to Princeton from her school, ever. She went to a Public school, no hooks and ORM. So the odds weren’t in our favor and we weren’t expecting anything, but as I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the RD round was a pleasant surprise with quite a few acceptances. Your daughter will get in if she has what the school is looking for. Best wishes to you! Btw, our D’23 was deferred from SCEA Yale last year and it wasn’t fun. I think deferrals are worse than rejections. Fortunately, only a small percentage of applicants get deferred these days. All the very best to everyone applying this year!!
Same girl, same.
Can someone please refresh my memory, was last years cycle under the “need more information” directive for interviews? I wasn’t initially concerned, very consistent application, but the posts mounting and date looming, I’m starting to lose my level-headedness haha!
hi everyone! i attend a private school near new haven and i know quite a few people from my school and another nearby private school who are being offered interviews (applied rea) around this time or last week. i think it really has to do with the number of available interviewers in your region, as i assume there are many planted around Connecticut and in general, the Northeast area.
If 2/3 matriculants have been interviewed, then after considering the yield, Yale’s subtotal admits with interviewing would be ~1600, out of 9000 interviews, leading to ~1/6 probability. For every Yale Interviewee, the chance of getting admitted would be ~1/6.
9000 interviews conducted every year, more than 4300 alums involved, huge logistics
I heard Columbia dropped interviews starting from this year. And UPenn switched interviews into online conversational talks. We should acclaim that Yale still sticks to its interview logistics.
Someone just posted that the REA decision date is 12/14. Is this confirmed?
It’s been that for a while now, so yes
But where was it announced? I am asking because I see more sources stated by mid December.
an applicant can see it on their admission status portal under ‘decision release date’. it is dec 14, at 5 pm EST. hope that helps!
Is being a USSYP alternate worth updating? I’m really bummed out bc I was so close and I was a semifinalist last year
I assume you listed last year, so no. Also, at this point I think it might be nice to have a couple of things up your sleeve to include in your LOCI if deferred.
Does the amount of questbridge admitees reduce the amount of admits from the rea pool?
I don’t think reduce is the correct word. When you see ED numbers it accounts for both, but the schools usually will break it out on their class announcements/press release.

Looks like they matched 72 QB finalists this year.
Does anyone get interview invite this week?
By the way, in support of a certain theory as to why Yale might be seeing a surge in popularity . . . .
Our college counseling office sent out a communication reminding people if they get admitted ED they need to withdraw their other applications. They explained how to do it, and included a sample email, which was:
“I appreciate the opportunity to apply to your institution but I have decided to withdraw my application. Sincerely, Rory Gilmore (birthday 10/8/84)”
Is that an increase from last yr?
i was too lol i updated them lets hope someone gives up their spot
