@tryingforharvard Are you saying this program focuses mostly on ECs/community involvement and essays?
The due date is 2/11, is it okay if my transcript (which I need to send via snail mail) is postmarked by that date, and not received? I emailed the YYGS but got no response
Is anyone else applying to Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship?? Itās a new session and it sounds fun. Iām also applying to PLE, hope I get into one of them.
Iām not sure, I put in my PSAT scores with my SAT even though my PSAT equivalent was slightly lower. I just put it to show that I can get decent scores on the New and Old SAT.
can you get in without SAT/ACT/PSAT scores? Iām a sophomore and I havenāt taken any of them. My SAT 2 Math 2 comes out on Feb. 11 so Iāll probably submit that.
Question: I know that the deadline for the application is February 11th, the day SAT Scores come out. I took the SAT back in November but did not do very well, and expect a MUCH better score this time. What TIME on February 11th is the deadline? Scores come out at 3 AM pacific time. Will that be before or after the deadline time? Thanks!
@Ahmeda14960 Iām applying for Global and African. I donāt have a SAT score, I didnāt think Iād need one so I didnāt take. Is it really important?
I feel like SOME type of standardized test would be important, even more so because youāre African and they canāt attest to the quality of most African schools ( Unless youāre from a famously intelligent high school in Africa? If those exist) You have to remember that the reason the SAT and ACT exist is to give a common measure for students who come from many varied high schools. If Iām from the U.S. they will know that I had to have had at least a marginal education, becuase there are state standards, but the international guidleines are much more blurry especially for Africa. One of my friends moved here from South Africa, and even though he had taken Physics and Chemistry at his old high school, our county did not recognize them. Idk if the state would have but his story shows that African institutions arenāt that well trusted but the SAT is.
its fine if you donāt have standardized test scores. Im from Ethiopia and I have a friend who went to yygs and she didnt submit any test scores even the toefl, which is strongly reccomended. it wont hurt you at all. African scholars doesnt need any scores. I did African scholars last year so if you have any questions or need any advice please ask!
@gigichuck@yerin2021 sorry about I guess I was wrong :-/
I figured some standardized test would matter but I guess not. Itās my fault for drawing from experiences with American institutes of education in general instead of this program specifically.
Iām submitting the app tonight (or tomorrow haha) and it seems to me like the program seems sort of strict?? like you canāt go anywhere outside of some set radius. But Iām also worried about standardized tests bc my SAT and PSAT arenāt the greatest so Iām not submitting them. My only test score is an AP scoreā¦
I noticed on their website they put that the MEDIAN score was 2250. That seems kind of odd to mention median, unless they wanted it to seem like the test scores of participants are higher than they actually areā¦
I also noticed that the acceptance rate was 26%ā¦ thats no walk in the park but I expected a little more from Yale. Any thoughts?
