What are my chances of getting into Yale….
I am being recruited for the soccer team
I have a 3.7 gpa into the second semester of junior year
Took two honors classes sophomore year
Taking 3 AP and 2 additional honors classes junior year
28+29 Composite ACT scores
A bunch of extra curricular and service stuff as well

Depends entirely on where you stand on the Coach’s list. Your GPA and course rigor sound fine. Your ACT is low. You should strive to get at least a composite 30. Assuming you are a top recruit and garner one of the Coach’s slots (a very big assumption) those stats would likely be fine. If you are not one of the Coach’s top recruits then those stats are likely not competitive. In other words, at this point, it’s all about your athleticism.

Thanks guy, helps a lot believe it or not….

Stats look really good. Yale also cares about your other extra curriculars. I know it is hard to believe, but they want to know you will contribute more than just sports…

If you can grab a leadership position this year, in soccer or elsewhere, that would help.

ACT is marginal unless you are a top recruit - ask the coach if you need to retake it again. Plan for a few more APs senior year - they will check your senior schedule during pre-read. They do like athletes who look like their regular students so some additional ECs are helpful.

Yale has been notoriously stingy with athletic LLs under the previous administration (exc hockey being the sacred cow). Your ACT might be a tough sell for the coach to admissions - raise that if you can. If you are a top national recruit, it may not matter - there’s a bit of a sliding scale when it comes to athletic/academics (although probably less at Yale than its Ivy peers)
