i dont have a lot of EC's but i put A LOT of time into track/ x country. They are year round sprots for me.I wont get recruited and i prob wont run in college but our team is still very good. Track won CIF SS DIV IV last year and x country competed in state. Hopefully this year we will win CIF and State for DIV IV in Cross Country.

summer stuff-
did comunity service in bali for a month go 120 hours
worked at another camp as a counselor for a month

This is one of the best resumes I have seen in a long time on CC. You have great test scores; your EC's show commitment and passion but aren't padded; and your summers were spent doing worthwhile things that weren't over the top. I don't think URM is needed to get you admitted, but it is a nice cherry on top of this ice cream sunday of information. I think any college would love to have you in its incoming class.

i disagree, the ec's a little lackluster assuming you are not gonna continue running or be recruited by yale, you do have a high chance yes, but more having outstanding scores + urm, not ur ec's

Your recs and essays pending- I'd say you have a pretty good shot. I've found that its really hard to find an academically savy athlete, colleges are diffinately on the prowl for those types of applicants.

ooo bandtenhut, watch what you say... HYP does it every year, someone who is thought to be the best possible choice gets 3 painful rejections, you should knock on wood =/

The OP doesn't have a laundry list of EC's but the ones she does have are great and show committment. More and more adcoms have come out recently saying this is more what they are looking for rather than the student who has so many EC's that (s)he doesn't have time to do anything major for any of them.

just so you can have an idea i have practice everyday year round from 3-5:30 including practices or meets on saturdays that go from like 7 to as late as 12 and i run for atleast an hour on sunday. Summer practice started in july and i generaly run consecutively from then untill the end of the year in may. so i dont really have time for other EC's and i put so much time into cross country....

Looks good...I'd put you with a group of top 25%-30% of applicants. With that said however, the accept. rates of these schools are like 8-12%. So your essays, interview and pure chance will determine your fate.

You seem like a great candidate...I wish you the best of luck.

You are such a good candidate...I think a commitment to a varsity sport + near perfect test scores and grades will definitely get you in!

BUT Ivy admissions are always a bit of a chance. One year we had a guy who lettered in two varsity sports (football and wrestling) as well as did All State choir & score 1550 on the old SAT w/ a 4.0 GPA REJECTED from Princeton.

You have great stats, but like another poster said, your URM status might take some of the luck out of the game and give you that extra push to make you a safe lock at ONE of your reach schools if not all of them.

As a URM with a #1 ranking at your school, top AP, SAT I and SATII scores and varsity sports leadership, you should be very competitive at Yale.

As noted, Yale had the lowest acceptance rate in the country last year--but I still think you'll be admitted if you write a great essay and get good recommendations.

With your lofty test scores and URM status, I believe admissions officials from Ivies such as Yale will visit your home and anoint your feet with expensive oils. Your ECs show great commitment and passion without succumbing to the usual laundry list of ECs...Awesome chances at all the crapshoots!
