Yale extended the deadline for their transfer application. It's now due March 10th!

I wonder if this is due to the drop in freshman applications; more importantly, I wonder if that will have any effect on the transfer acceptance rate.

I doubt it will affect transfer rate. The incoming freshmen last year was full. I think there certainly is a drop in freshmen application this year. Maybe those who want to transfer next year will have a better chances of getting in.

This happens every year, so don't take the extension for much.

nspeds: It happens every year? Are you sure?

I wonder how many more completed applications they hope to recieve by extending it though. Certainly nobody not already planning to apply to Yale is going to decide to now.

Okay... it happened the last two years, and perhaps even before then.

I know one who decided to apply because of the extension; he was admitted.

ha

i totally just put mine in the mail to get it postmarked and sent before the first. i guess they'll just have a little extra time to review my stuff.

I'm sure very few people are going to be able to gather secondary school reports, order high school transcripts, get recommendations from professors, submit a college report, and all the other stuff in 10 days. In my experience, high school counselors and college deans want 2 weeks notice minimum.

And you "know somebody who...."
*Yea, brilliant evidence.

Yeah, but Yale is pretty flexible when it comes to parts of the application you are not directly sending. For instance, when I was applying, some of my recs and transcripts were as much as two weeks late.

*Yea, brilliant evidence.

It's called an anecdote. It is far better than your pitiful conjecture, and it at least stands as a counter-example.

Yes, I realized it was an anecdote, HENCE my ridicule. You provided no NAME, no DETAILS, and stood to gain (in your perception) social profit. And what value is it's stance as a counterexample? Though less likely to be pointed out, an example in favor of the previous statement would still be just an anecdote.

Conjecture? Significant proof is available to anybody who goes and asks for a college or secondary report. Verification of your statement? IMPOSSIBLE. Notice nspeds that unlike your statement, mine has
1.a named subject
2.notice that it is one person's experience and
3.is easily verified by other's peoples experiences.

I'm glad you ignorantly think so. We're all impressed.

Heh.. I got all excited thinking it might be a little easier to transfer into Yale this year cause of the thread title (relatively speaking), but then I read some posts and am going to try next year :)

also, does someone know how much the secondary school report is weighed during the transfer admission process at Yale (for junior standing)?

Other than the fact that he is not a legacy, lack details do not add or detract from the counterexample.

I don't care.

I thought it was implied that I was the subject. I don't know, perhaps I overestimated your intelligence. That's surprising, actually.

Once again, that seems so implicit in my example that I am surprised such an inference wasn't drawn by you. I'm actually really surprised; you'd have to be pretty dumb not to see it.

As is mine. In fact, I have an experience from the best source of all: call Yale admissions office and ask if the transcripts/recs must be there by the deadline. I bet you they'll say no.

This makes absolutely no sense.

I don't really care what you have to say my post. I have nothing to gain or lose either by winning or losing, so why should be bothered by complete sophomoric nonsense? I shouldn't, so bye:)

I realize your vanity is at stake here, but I am sure that you have a plethora of other sources for a false sense of it.

Is that why you proceeded to quote and reply several times?

I realize you're a geek who transferred to georgetown 1 or 2 years ago but still frequent this subforum. I'm sure you can add another 1,000 replies to your current 5,000 by arguing with me, so I'll leave it as is.

when did they announce this? ... I sent my app today via next air. I wasted my money

This forum never ceases to amuse me with its petty arguments, usually started by some form of ignoramus or another.. never fails I open up a topic to try and get some good info and then we have people making silly accusations! C'mon guys...

you say yale does this often?
so does the deadline also hold for financial aid documents? or only for applications

Does anyone have any idea why they might have extended the deadline, then? I'm having trouble seeing the logic in it...

less freshman applicants? I dunno
