Transfer admission deadlines...

Many schools have pushed them back. Anyone care to speculate as to why? Is this particularly common? Does it say anything about the strength (or lack thereof) of this year's applicant pools?

I was wondering the same thing...hoping they didn't have enough applications...and thus we all had higher chances. lol

Hopefully, they didn't have enough applicants but they might just want to accommodate quarter system applicants. Anyone have a complete list of all the schools pushing back their deadline

i believe the reason was that the march 1 deadline fell on a saturday and many schools did not want their deadline on a weekend, so the deadlines were extended to the following monday. i would not be surprised if several march 15th deadlines were extended to march 17th for the same reason, but i would not take this for granted either.

Last year UVA extended their transfer deadline, and the reason Dean J of UVA gave was,

"Most schools extend deadlines. It helps those last few people who had computer problems get their applications in."

It makes sense, but I also hope that they extended it due to less applicants, and thus higher chances for all of us. :)

celtic fan5 .. u r right. Cornell CALS pushed its deadline from March 15th to March 30th.

The following school extended their deadline:
CORNELL CALS - March 30th
Columbia SGS - March 3rd
UVA - March 10th
UTEXAS - March 3rd

please let it be true that there's fewer applicants!! =D

Must vary alot, with the exception of Rutgers and Rowan University... the other 5 school's i'm applying to all have there deadline as June 1st for transfer students. Which is good because i'll have my spring grades.

Have colleges extended deadlines in light of fewer applicants in the past?

People who never intended to apply wouldn't have time to put together their recommendation letters and package during the week or so that colleges extend. So that's an unlikely reason.

I noticed uiuc also posted that, with the exception of business and mech engineering, the deadline for all other transfer apps was extended until they received enough qualified apps.

I wasn't really paying close attention but I could have sworn people were upset last year because they closed LAS apps for students with <60 hours before the deadline was even up.
