How good are Yale's science programs? Specifically, I'm talking about engineering. I know its known as a political science school, but how reputable are its science programs in comparison to some of the other top schools in the country? Would it be a wise choice to go to Yale and get a technical engineering degree? I know its not the best, but I really love everything about Yale, but the main thing keeping me from going is that the science isnt known to be very good. Is this a fallacy?

ok look at it this way: if u go to a specialty tech school (eg, mit or caltech or something), youll undoubtedly get a great education in engineering, and youll probably learn more about engineering than you would at yale. but youre also closed off from the numerous other disciplines that are so fantastic at yale--and these things can inform your engineering studies in ways you wouldnt even think about now (ie, social policy + engineering, environmental ethics + engineering, etc). you might also (god forbid) decide you have passions in other areas and change your major. lord knows i did enough times. and, from what i know about technical degrees, you dont even start studying the real meat of the matter until graduate school anyway. bottom line, there are many schools that can make you a great engineer, but theres only one Y-A-L-E.

I applied for biomedical engineering!!! Anyway, Yale just put like 500 million dollars into their engineering department. I dont think I will be missing out by studying engineering at Yale (that is...if I get accepted - HAH)

so how do you think the electrical engineering is? i know biomed is popular, but how about some of the other engineering degrees?

boys and girls?
