Real talk if I know grad students do at least this level of work, it’s motivating that at least I’m prepping myself to do that level of work.
Schedule:
Honors quantum mechanics
Honors Electricity and Magnetism
Honors Thermodynamics
Partial DiffEQ
Foundations of Math(an intro proof based math class)
Tutoring Job(like 6-8 hours a week), and a research lab.
Is this too much, and do grad students do something similar to this in terms of work going for their grad/PhD programs? I’m trying really hard to get both my physics major and math major by the end of next year
Graduate students tend to take more advanced graduate level courses as well as seminars where they and faculty discuss current research topics. Meanwhile, they are typically also doing research and teaching (as TAs).
So do you think my current schedule is pretty doable?
It is a heavy schedule but doable. My advisees usually take 5 classes like this in their last semesters of college if they are planning to transition to graduate school.
Is this what a graduate student takes? No, graduate students who are TAs or RAs will take only 3 graduate courses per semester. Those who are self-funding a M.S. might take 4 graduate courses in a semester.
