Hello. I am an A&S physics major. I was wondering how many credits you guys took per semester. Thanks.

Low: 16
High: 25
Average: 19

(Wow, this was exciting -- I've never seen how many credits I had taken per semester, because MIT has this weird system that nobody else uses where 1 unit = 1 hour spent on the subject per week. But I looked up the conversion formula, and now I get to participate in this discussion like everybody else!)

wow, that's a lot of credits per semester. is that how much people need to take to get into good grad schools? Thanks for your reply.

Oh, I just took that many because I'm a double-major, and a double-major at MIT has to take a bunch of credits outside the general requirements. Is 19 a lot? (I know 25 is a lot -- and believe me, that semester was pretty rough!)

I don't think that's how many someone has to take to get into a good grad school... to be honest, I'm not even sure how explicitly a heavy courseload is even considered.

I took from 12-19 credits a semester...average of 15. That's a pretty normal workload. Got into grad school just fine.

I took at the max 19-20 hours, which is not that bad if you pick the right classes that semester and don't overload with hard ass classes. However, I had to take a minimum of 15 to keep my scholarships.

molliebatmit, is the moral of the story that MIT people are like other people after you do some conversions?

In the case of credits, you just need a conversion formula.

In the case of personality and eccentricity... some people are convertible, others aren't. ;)
