So, here:
White female from FL.
GPA: 3.78
SAT: V: 690 W: 690 M: 610. I'm well aware how awful these are. I re-took it in October, so I'm hoping I did much better. I really am the worst test-taker alive.
SAT II: Literature: 720; US History: 530 (eeeeep)
I'm not going to post my whole resume on here, but I'll sum it up for you.
I'm a four-year member of MAO. I've taken AP chem, world history, english lit, english comparative, environmental science, statistics, calc BC, US history, macroeconomics, and government. I'm really involved in our drama troupe, and I've had several lead roles. I'm a regional champion in several divisions in Irish Dancing. I attended Columbia's High School program this past summer, and took Constitutional law. I work as an FCAT (state standardized test) tutor for underprivileged middle school students. I don't know if Columbia considers this as a factor in admissions, but my family is a potential donor. That's really all I can think of. Despite my low scores, I can actually write fairly well, so I'm hoping for an excellent essay. I'm applying ED. If that fails, Barnard had better take me. =P

I'm not qualified to comment on your chances, being a high-school senior myself, but I just had to say that I love your username. :D

And that I, too, will be playing the Barnard card. :P

i prefer shakespeare

An awful test-taker?!

Those are great! To me at least. I'm aiming to get like scores when I retake them this November.

Anyhow, I was just randomly clicking stuff so I don't know about the whole 'chance me' thing. Moving along..

The irish dancing is interesting, but I think Barnard's more realistic. On the bright side, if you attend Barnard you are statistically speaking more likely to hook up with me. So, there's that.

^where did that statistic come from, sounds like an interesting survey, post a link?

Oh, anecdotal statistic. They exist now.

Ha. But what if I already have a boyfriend at Columbia?

According to my scientific/anecdotal studies, that's an irrevelant factor.

1) isn't there a Barnard forum?

2) Nothing really stands out about this profile. GPA, test scores, even ECs - nothing flashy here. Ms. Bard, I'd never counsel against hope, but the rational thing to do here is to plan as if you'll have to look elsewhere, and if you get in, so much the happier.

You might

if you donate a bunch

actually anyone can go to any ivys if they donate millions $

am sry to say but comapare to those who actually did get accepted last yr little hope

Fiiine. And, yes. I'm sure there is a Barnard forum, but since I'm planning on applying to Columbia ED, why would I write there? Also- would it help to mention that I have my private pilot's license, and wrote my essay on Russian Lit? (Which I would LOVE to major in)

Thank you for your thoughts. Sorry for coming off so desperate. Obviously, I'd really like to get in.

My friend's family donated $1 million to Stanford (non-Ivy of course--same "league" however) and did not get in. So donating is no automatic entry (unless we're talking about Duke. Penn as well perhaps.)

Pilot's license is awesome. Do you have a history of Russian-language involvement? Writing about how Gogol and Pushkin are awesome in translation doesn't strike me as particularly compelling. Academic interests only have relevance--in the admissions process--if there's a history of significant involvement.
