Hey, just wondering how Med schools will view a year off before applying to med school.

In addition, how important is what one does in that year to admissions. Would it count against someone if they took a couple of courses at a school, while working in a lab part time or volunteering in a hospital.

Or would they rather see someone working full time in a hospital setting or doing full time volunteering of some sort.

If you spend it taking classes is that going to count against you. (Assuming that you're not taking the classes for gpa boost but just for academic interests) What if you took classes and got a job doing research or volunteered at a local hospital?
