YES system question

DD is trying to get her course selections set up for registration. Two quick questions.

She said when she hits “enroll” or “waitlist if full”, and then logs out, the system doesn’t retain the information. So I would assume that she needs to select “enroll” and then “submit” in the same session. Is that correct?

I also assume that there is a submit button on the screen once her enrollment window opens. Correct? And does it show up on the top or the bottom of the screen?

Thanks!

At the bottom of the page in the cart should be a submit button. Next to each course is a drop down that allows you to choose an action. Submitting will only apply to those classes you have chosen to enroll, waitlist, etc. and it will disappear from the cart and into the enrolled page. After this things should be set and it should be there permanently unless you drop a class, if for some reason it disappears from the enrolled page after logging out then you should contact technical services.

If a red sign appears on the page and the class doesn’t move than you have a conflict of some sort. The sign will tell you whats wrong for you to fix(class full, waitlist full, schedule conflict, etc.).

As you suspect, the submit button only becomes available once the enrollment window opens.

Essentially, on the morning of enrollment, you refresh the page until “submit” becomes available, then you mark your courses as enroll/waitlist and submit. There will be a lot of activity on the page at the time and the site will become sluggish. Always a frustrating experience and a battle to get into courses  .

Actually it seemed to work well for her - even got into her first choice writing seminar. Next up - finding books for less than the hundreds cited at the B&N on campus!

@Poohbah29 I would recommend www.abebooks.com . That’s where I got most of my textbooks this past year.

Just to ‘wow’ you, I got my brand new physics textbook for around ~$28 on this website, as opposed to the original ~$180 price found on the bookstore website at my school.

@Poohbah29 My S books have come primarily from Amazon. He sells them back at the end of the semester. Last semester he paid over $200 for a book since it was a brand new edition and there were no used books available. The good news is that he sold it back for $5 less then he paid for it. He also rents books from Amazon.

One thing I learned from my college days was to keep very few books. It wasn’t that long ago that I threw away over 30 textbooks from my college years. S will not be doing that.
