^^^ The discussion has gotten more interesting than that. Elihu Yale himself was actually a slave trader. So now a discussion, not yet official, has begun on changing the name of the university itself.
@4thfloor Were you at the freshman assembly when this topic was introduced? What you said above does not match what I heard. In his speech, The Dean of Yale College said while pretty sure Elihu Yale did not own any slaves", being part of East India Trade Company, he benefitted from slave trade indirectly. He also said changing the University’s name was “off the table”. You can watch his entire speech on Youtube.
And Malia Obama has slave owners in her ancestry. What’s yer point?
