Essays and Recs
- I'm pretty sure my essays will be great.
- My teacher recs will be decent, but I have no idea what the counselor will write about me.

Thanks for any feedback! I was also wondering what the English department at Reed is like, since I will most likely be majoring in English! =)

Academically, you fit the mold at Reed (regardless of the fact that Reed seems to accept it students based on their academic PASSIONS, not necessarily their achievements.) Thus, with that said, Reed will be content looking at your GPA and nothing more. Things like honor roll, merit awards, etc don't work against you, but they don't make you stand out much either. I'm just pointing that out for you.

However, your academics and ECs do show passion to english, literature, and writing, so Reed will see your dedication to your passions.

Overall, you have a good shot. Make sure your essays are EXCELLENT.

Thank you, OniLawliet. I will try my best to convey myself, not my stats, in the application. =)

Oh and btw, I forgot to add that I am applying reg. decision, if that changes anything.

Hey, some of us like these threads!

I think Reed is a safety for no one, due to its unique (like many other schools) personality. I think Reed is a match (for me meaning 50/50) for you, based on your presented stats. Essay and interview will be important.
