"You are 'STILL' being considered..."

Wrong. UCI is about 46% asian. For comparison, UCSD is about 45% asian, UCLA about 40%.

The city of Irvine is majority Chinese. So UCI is actually less asian than Irvine itself.

right, so… 4.01 would be about the average, right?

[YouTube - Ching Chong! Asians in the Library Song (Response to UCLA’s Alexandra Wallace)](<a href=“Ching Chong! Asians in the Library Song (Response to UCLA's Alexandra Wallace) - YouTube”>Ching Chong! Asians in the Library Song (Response to UCLA's Alexandra Wallace) - YouTube) check this out lol

Where did you get your statisitics from?

http://www.oir.uci.edu/enr/IIA07-enr-by-ethnicity.pdf</a></p>

<a href=“Undergraduate Statistics”>Undergraduate Statistics;

The percent of asian students that make up uci’s student body is constantly exaggerated.

collegeboard i think

Your first source is valid, but why the 2nd one about UCSD? o_O This is about UCI.

Because I stated the percent of asian students at UCSD in my post for the sake of comparison…

UCI student here by the way if you have any questions.

Don’t get mad kk? I don’t want to start a fight. And it’s late at night and I’m really tired.

That’s cool that you go to UCI ;]

not mad. It just seems like there’s a lot of misinformation out there and i see it repeated every year.

I’m a third year. haven’t been back on this website since high school

Question 1: What time does UCI update their zotportal to tell you that you’ve been admitted?

Questions 2: How tough is competition for grades at UCI? As in do teachers grade base on some bell curve?

Question 3: Are there waves between now and March 31?

Enjoy LOL, sorry ><

1: I remember them updating it at 3am when I was a senior, though it could have changed in the last few years.

2: It varies way too much to give you a good answer. There are some classes in some subjects that are extremely, extremely tough. If you want to be happy in college, (especially if you’re an engineering or hard science major) you need to realize that sometimes it will be practically impossible for you to get an A. Very rarely, but it does happen.

In some disciples, it seems like 60% of the people are getting A’s or B’s.

I don’t think anyone anywhere really grades on a bell curve anymore (meaning a perfect distribution where the same number of people fail and get A’s). Most professors are usually more flexible than that and will create a custom grading scale based on what percent of the class they want to receive a certain grade.

3: Really have no idea. Sorry.

YAY thanks, lol I have a bazillion questions… ><

Which dorm do you think is best? I know pentland for UCR is the best but what about UCI?

How is the social life at UCI? Decent amount of parties or anything?

4: As a freshman you live in either Mesa court or middle earth. I personally think Mesa is a lot better because it has more of a “park” feel (since there’s a lot of trees and grass), and the residence halls tend to have more of a homey feel. However, many people would say Middle is better, so I’d visit both and see what you think.

As far as specific residence hall, I’d try to get one of the older, smaller ones (in mesa court, Arroyo, Loma, Lago, Bahia, Sierra, Cielo, and a few others). To be honest, they’re all really similar in design. What matters the most is what type of people you have in your hall, which you really have no control over.

5: Better than UCI’s reputation would suggest. You can always find parties or things to do on the weekend if you want to. The trick is to find a good group of friends as soon as possible. A lot of people from NorCal and out of state are always here on the weekend, so don’t worry too much about the campus clearing out (it seems like many prospective students are worried about this).

It’s hard thinking of questions when my head hurts. hmm…

Do I really need a car or would it just be better if I had one? How is parking there?

Is it easy to switch majors?

How have budget cuts affected UCI?

Is it more likely you won’t be accepted the closer the last day comes where they send out all the rejection letter? <– i think this is what everyone wants to know lol.

6: it’s pretty much always better to have a car, but you definitely don’t need it. Just about everything you need is right on campus.

7: If you have a decent GPA, it’s usually very easy. As a new student, it’s even easier. You actually have an opportunity to change it during orientation if you want.

Exceptions are Engineering, Business Admin, and Nursing- it can be very difficult or impossible to switch into these if you weren’t admitted as a freshman. It does happen sometimes though.

8: I get asked this question a lot. Honestly, my daily experience today seems identical to my daily experience as a first year. My class sizes haven’t changed, and my classes don’t seem to be offered less frequently (though the media claims these things are happening). I don’t know. Maybe it is affecting people in other majors more significantly, but it doesn’t seem like it (I’m a CS major btw). From my perspective, it just seems like a lot of sensational journalism.

Tuition is higher now. That’s for sure.

I think they do tend to accept the top people first, but I don’t think you’ve necessarily been rejected if you haven’t been accepted yet. Unfortunately, it’s probably more likely you’ll be rejected : ( , but it’s not certain.

This is all from my memory of the process a few years ago btw.

D; reading that makes me feel devastated. 1910 and 3.87 gpa is not enough to them :(

I think any information is helpful XD specially since it’s mainly just us seniors speculating about UCI than any real info from anybody who actually goes to or graduated from UCI.

More generic questions to ask…ugh…o-o

In your dorms are you lumped together with the people who have the same major as you?

Are athletics big at UCI? People say that there isn’t much team spirit there for athletics.

How gracious is UCI with financial aid?
