"You are 'STILL' being considered..."

@FridayFriday: go ahead:] wait when did you find out your results?

I’m so frustrated…

kids at my school with 3.6’s and 1800’s get in while I suffer with a 3.87 and a 1910. my SAT2s are pretty decent, all are above 700. I don’t think I’m lacking in ECs

Yea UC system doesnt make sense this yr.
if this helps anyone
gpa: 3.6 weighted
SAT 1970 SATII 740 chem 730 math
ACT 31
EC: plain hospital volunteer
Major: chemistry
Accepted: UCSB
rejected: UCI

People say that it doesn’t make sense every year. I remember participating in this exact thread when I was applying a couple years ago and everyone was saying the same thing.

The truth is that they make decisions based on a holistic impression of your app. If someone you know got in with lower stats then you, just assume they had really good essay or that something else on their app made them stand out.

To those rejected: i’m sorry, but I promise you it’s going to be ok. I’m sure many of you will have good choices and, if not, there’s always community college which is really not a bad option at all.

Are they still sticking to the “During March admission notifications are posted prior to 9:00 a.m. No admission status changes will occur for the remainder of the day.”?

^well they’ve been releasing rejections all day, so I guess not.

Rejected…what the hell Irvine…I got accepted to freaking UMich and UW. How can Irvine reject me?

@chiburger what. the hell. congrats on michigan and u dub! you don’t need irvine lol. but that is EXREMELY perplexing to me… o__O

what major did you apply for @chiburger? O_O

Biological Sciences. That was probably it-I’m guessing it’s a competitive major, since I got rejected by SD and LA as well with bio. There’s no mistakes on my app and I feel like my essays were pretty good (average stats I suppose, 3.9W+2100SAT). This is confusing.

Where is my decision!!! Irvine is driving me mad!!!

those are both good schools, but they typically have acceptance rates in the 40’s or 50’s%. UCI has been <50% for the last couple of years. Sorry you got rejected, but i don’t really think it’s that surprising. On top of that, i’d guess that the applicant pool for the UC’s is on average more competitive (due to california’s size).

You aren’t admitted based on the major you choose. If they can’t put you into your first choice major, then they just admit you as undecided/undeclared.

@Chiburger: Which UMich? Dearborn?

Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor, nice

honestly im getting annoyed with UCI to the point where i dont think I would even go if I got accepted (though it is a low match for me, was going to be my #1 UC choice if i didnt get into my other schools cause i know hella people there and thought i would get honors). bahhhhh stupid UCI. Why cant they ujst have one day?

Wow, that sucks, but I’d take Michigan or Wisconsin over Irvine any day… except for the weather. The word “winter” has no meaning in southern California.

Hang in there guys.

So I think UCI is calling people who were admitted…I got a call. They ask to see how likely you’re going to enroll, and I think that if they get a lot of students who aren’t likely to go to their school, they may accept more from the pool of applicants that haven’t yet heard back. Just my hunch…

UCI’s better than uw-madison imo, but whatevs

@evanescence1234 were you already accepted to UCI?
