Wow, this looks really nice; I’m excited :)

no, you guys are the lucky ones. our admit rates are plummeting…

Yeah, but we’re also the ones who have to help fund all these nice, new goodies.

meanwhile at Harvard, financial aid is…

I’m sure expanding campus and raising number of people admitted is going to do wonders for the university’s reputation / prestige [/end sarcasm]

come on, somebody continue my poem.

Who said anything about raising the number of people admitted? Ain’t gonna happen. Instead, the admit rate (hopefully) will continue to go down.

And Penn is doing a lot to enhance financial aid: it’s already eliminated loans from its aid packages and siginificantly increased the aid budget, and it’s raising an additional $350 million in undergraduate financial aid endowment as part of the current Making History capital campaign.

Give it some time, son! :)

Yeah, they’re not expanding the class. even when they build a new dorm on Hill Field, it’s just to increase the proportion of students in on-campus housing, not expand the undergraduate class.

45 Percenter, my point is that the fin aid still isn’t competitive with Harvard (less confident but I think Yale and Princeton too). As for giving it time - I’ll graduate before anything will change substantially.

necro, at least you have your sights set high in terms of Penn’s competition! :)

Things are definitely changing, but you’re right, the results won’t be fully realized until after you’ve graduated. That’s why you have to join alums like bagels and me in pushing the ol’ alma mater to even greater heights! Believe me, you’ll have plenty of opportunities–like every year for the rest of your life when you get solicited for the Penn Fund. ;)
