How is it at your school? It's pretty common here, but that may just be the region. I have 11 piercings and 2 tattoos. You?

I go to a small girls private school and a surprising amount of students have piercings. They are mostly in the senior class and maybe 5 girls have them (out of 50)

I don't have any true "piercings" but I do have an ear pierced. I wanted one for years but my parents wouldn't let me (my Indian father is a strong believer that piercings are only meant for the female gender), so I just had my friend do it. :) No tattoos for me though. I'm not all that interested unfortunately.

Generally, our class doesn't have too many piercings/tattoos, but there's a small group that does have a lot. It's there (I attend a public school), but it doesn't really have a presence.

Tattoos are uncommon here. Pierced ears are common in guys and girls. Not many people have piercings anywhere else (as far as I know).

I have pierced ears, but I don't wear earrings that often. I might get a tattoo when I turn 18.

Not many tattoos at my school, but lots and lots of piercings.

My ears are pierced (one in each, but I'd like another one) and my nose is pierced (the left side).

Eyebrow piercing and a barcode tattoo. Tattoos and piercings aren't too common at my school but it's not outrageous, either.

Alex

I shave my eyebrows and replace them with tattooed smudges...
I also have 3 inch gauges in my ears....
That's all I can think of except the dragon I have that's tattooed on my chest. I dont have that much compared to my friends...

Tattoos are uncommon, piercings are pretty safe, too (mostly just ears, a couple of girls have them in their tongues, but that's about it).

Most girls at my school have their ears pierced, but besides that not many piercings. I don't any boys with anything pierced and come to think of it, no girls with anything but ears. There are a few kids with tattoos, maybe like 30 in the entire school out of about 1000. A TON of kids got tattoos on a school trip to Mexico the other year though but most of them graduated by now.

Nah. People with piercings/tattoos usually think they're hard, but really aren't.

^I think that's just a stereotype. Most of the people I know with interesting piercings/tattoos have them for the artistic or fashion statement they make.

I might get a small tattoo on my lower back when I turn 18. Still thinking about it.

:edit:

how appropriate that this is my 666th post :]

lol, artistic statement, typical liberal garbage.

What, exactly, is wrong with that? Most people take fashion and their general appearance seriously and as a statement to the rest of the world. People do the same thing with hair and makeup, don't they? So what's wrong with using your body as a canvas? It's yours to do so, isn't it?

I think most people that get a tattoo when they are young are way too immature to decide if they want something there for the rest of their lives. IMO the rule of thumb is, once you're 18+ you can get a tattoo as long as a) you're ok with ANYONE seeing it b) you get it in a part of your body that you can show/hide when desired.

I have a problem with people who take any one thing too seriously (including the internets) because they get homotional over facetious remarks.

girls who later on want kids and want a tatoo on their lower backs are idiots...

XD true...

I want one on each shoulder, but not great big ones.

I think tattoos/piercings really depend on where you live. It's not a big deal over in SoCal where I am, because California on the whole is very liberal...but I have some friends who would never consider it because they're from somewhere else and it's more "taboo" there.

Also, I think the "wait until you're 18" argument is crap. Is 18 just some magical number for you where once you're 18, you're all mature and know exactly what you want? I doubt that's how it works.

Frankly, if you want it, you realize that you may not like it your whole life (but you're willing to take the chance), and you have a parent that'll take you, get down with your bad self. If you don't like tattoos, don't get one. Simple as that.

I have my ears pierced twice. Most girls at my school have their ears pierced, the next leading one is their tongue. Some girls also have their bellybutton or the monroe piercing. I'm actually quite surprised by the number of people with tattoos (I'd say maybe 1/6 of the senior class).

It's not some magical number, but it is when your parents aren't liable for you any more. Why bother getting tattooed against your parents' wishes at 16 or 17 when you can do whatever you want (legally) at 18?
