P.D. Eastman???

You find yourself "tearing up" at college tours and information sessions.

Yes, I know who Mr. Giesel is : ) I have a full collection of his works that I have boxed in the attic for my grandchildren. I couldn't bear to part with them after my boys got "too old"
for them. However, I want to buy another "Oh, the Places You'll Go" for S's graduation.

I do have some P.D. Eastman books. I always thought they looked like Suess books. Were they illustrated by him?

My favorite early reader book is a P. D. Eastman one - "Go, dog, go!" It delighted me as a child and my children loved it, too. There are layers of humor in the illustrations. He was a different person than Giesel but studied the Dr Seuss style.

You know you are the parent of a college bound senior when you started ... ...

you all know what I am going to say :(

...when sometimes their antics force you to look the other way because you know they are going to have to navigate similar challenges solo next year, so at least for now, you are there in case they need you (secretly hoping they still do).

...when you realize how great an adult they're becoming: funny, insightful and wise beyond their years. You don't want your new friend to move away too soon and see that day as the most bittersweet of your life.

Ahh, the birthday thing really got to me cause DD's 18th is today. Since DS's birthday is in June, we never missed him being home for his. I suspect this coming year neither will be home. As I told DH this morning when I woke up, we have no kids under 18 left in the house. Very weird.

OT: P.D. Eastman books are sometimes confused with Dr. Suess, and they did work together on 'the Cat in the Hat Dictionary'.

However, the other pen name of Dr. Suess is 'Theo. LeSieg' (Geisel spelled backwards.)

....when you have to buy an extra week of vacation to have enough for orientation, moving-in, fall meets, parents weekend, etc. And you constantly go on Orbitz to check on airfares to the out-of-state schools....
