where is devil lol?

i think it's ridiculous that people would depend on the big name of their school to make them go further in life-that's as bad as dropping names in a courtroom or getting your way because daddy has alot of money. to those who would agree that drive is more important than location-yay you. and no, i don't mean drive to get into a big school just so that you earn the title and hence the envy of the multitudes, i mean the drive to succeed in life for YOURSELF-to discover what it is that you need as a peson to be complete. and, POR favor (<CHEYEA, 710 on SAT II spanish, wut wu-wut, i never spoke spanish before high school! eat that harvard! heh heh, jp) but i refuse to believe that making alot of money is the definition of success. i think many people, including myself if i'm perfectly honest, are just too damn proud.

btw, off topic, does EVERYONE get a little booklet thingy and application sent to them from harvard?

ohhh...such a great question pineapple_sushi!

I got one of those things, too...checked with my GC...she said it was prb legit and not a blanket, but I agree with some of the parents that its just an invite to give Harvard $65 and a chance to tell you no.

BTW, I agree with your other comments, too.

bitter much?

Just reading the posts on CC is humbling. A lot of the board members are absolutely GODLY in academics/EC's/community service/awards/etc and while it does make me feel extremely bad about myself, it also encourages me to work harder so that I might have a chance at a top college.

Since when did it become wrong to choose colleges based on prestige? Yes, finding the right fit is important, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider prestige as one of the factors. Of course, basing your choice entirely on the name is wrong too.

indeed. :P i feel stupid compared to smart ppl. and for ppl who do know me, plz don't state my standardized test grades as a response. THat was a lucky shot.

but anyways, i am lazy and sorta bright. you all make me feel so stupid. :P I am going to washU next year and I am happy. So ha! all you people belittling my terrible class rank :P can just feel bad that me is going to college! :P i'm just happy me gots in

Most people who are really successful did not go to an ivy simply because a miniscule portion of the population went to one.

Yet a disproportionate percentage of people who went to a top school are very successful.

Simply, it is just one, valid way of getting a leg up in life.

There are many others.

Belittling the accomplishments of those who get in is just silly. They've worked hard and should enjoy their advantage.

It's equally silly to deny the possibilities for those who go to other schools or no school at all for that matter.
