In the common application essay, is it okay to finish with something like "I feel that you can help me... [blah blah... make a dream come true]" ? I really have some doubts about that "you" part, considering the essay is common for all universities. Any suggestions?

If you are unsure of it, try rewriting the ending a few different ways to see if there is a better way that doesn’t use “you”.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to address the admissions officer like that. They only have control over your acceptance or rejection to a college, and that shouldn’t be the factor in whether your “dream comes true.”
