i have so many questions..im only a freshman in highschool but im starting early...going to princeton means a lot of things to mean and im determined to do it..but in the course of doing my research i've racked up questions and i figure people directly connected to the school i wish to attend (princeton) is a good way to get them answered...here goes..thansks for any help
Whats the difference between undergrad and grad?
How does princeton do its diversity assessment and acceptance?
i've heard princeton has the best financial aid of the ivies...but how far are the same students they help in debt after graduation?
What departments have the best platforms at princeton in comparison to Harvard?
And any other questions i havent thought of at the moment...thanks everyone....btw im new to the forums so im not "hip" to the "lingo" yet lol

...go away

dont worry about it yet. you still have a long time. just work hard and dont get into drugs.lol

and don't get too distraught if not everything goes according to plan along the way

confused yet determined... hmm.. freshman.. come back when you know a little more about life. like we'll take you in junior year... when you start with the sats and that stuff...

You should be frolicking in the sunlight and picking daffodils to stick behind your ear.

I have to disagree with jjjjj

Your best bet as of now is to become a crack fiend so that for your personal statement you can say how you overcame a crack habit at the age of 14 :)

seriously, dont' stress about college stuff so soon.

you better start on your cure for cancer NOW (hint: chuck norris' tears)
there is still time for you

but chuck norris never cries and you'll end up killing the kid if you send him to talk to chuck.

Ok - stop bashing the freshman who started this thread. She is intelligently try to plan a little now to prepare to be in good position for college in 4 years. Not a bad idea when you think about it. Now is the time that she can actually do things that will enable her to succeed in college. So, while I am not associated with Princeton at all, my son has applied this year and is waiting for a decision like everyone else. He considered numerous other ivies and top schools, but narrowed down his choices quickly due to several factors. He loved Princeton's generous financial aid. He love the campus feel. The school is well known for the programs he is interested in and he liked the proximity to New York, while still maintaining a separate campus feel. He also has relatives near by that would love for him to attend if he gets in. However, that being said, he is not counting on getting in (he has the grades, test scores and great EC's, but so does everyone else). He also applied to numerous other schools that he has visited and would be happy at any of them. He has gotten numerous great scholarships so far and is quite confident that he will end up happily attending the right school next year. We learned a substantial amount about the college search process from this board and my best suggestion to you is to keep reading, work hard in high school and don't forget to have fun. Also, please keep posting and asking questions. You can even change your name and don't tell people how old you are if that helps. Try not to take any of the responses personally, as some of them are pretty funny.

I'm with leadfooter. She may be a freshman, but that devil-may-care, condescending attitude doesn't do her a whole lot of good. I'd imagine it's probably pretty frustrating. I think I've had the least stressful college application experience out of nearly everyone I go to high school with, and it comes from being informed. It's easy for you to say, because you're seniors and you stressed about it and you wish you didn't have to (I'm the same) but in the long run, PrePrncetnSweetE can be less stressed because she knows what's going on. If you had no idea what was going on, and for all you knew, four of the most exciting years of your life would be determined by an entirely random crapshoot, you'd be pretty panicked too.

Besides, didn't you watch other members of your class frantically searching through college catalogs the fall of senior year, overloaded with applications and schoolwork, never having visited campuses? Let her look ahead, so that she can actually have a normal life junior and senior year.

PrePrncetnSweetE,

Whats the difference between undergrad and grad? Undergrad is four-year college, where you get a general education in broad areas but focus on a specific subject (your major or concentration). Grad school is after undergrad, where you are concentrating completely on one subject. Often, grad school consists of doing research and publishing papers. You pay to go to undergrad. Grad school pays you. There's also professional school, which is like medical school, business, or law. So basically, you start off taking a well-rounded schedule of every subject (like in high school) and as you go up, it gets more and more specific.

How does princeton do its diversity assessment and acceptance? I'm not sure what you mean. Princeton has diversity goals, but there are no quotas/affirmative action.

i've heard princeton has the best financial aid of the ivies...but how far are the same students they help in debt after graduation? Last year, 100% of the students graduated with no debt. Loans are not part of the financial aid package. What other schools ask you to borrow, Princeton will give you in the form of a grant.

What departments have the best platforms at princeton in comparison to Harvard? All of Princeton's programs are excellent, certainly of roughly equal caliber to Harvard's. There are some general inequalities -- Princeton is better at math, Harvard better at chemistry; Princeton's better at economics, et cetera. In the big picture, though, it evens out. The only major difference is location and environment.

And any other questions i havent thought of at the moment...thanks everyone....btw im new to the forums so im not "hip" to the "lingo" yet lol Feel free to PM (that means "private message") me or IM me anytime. My screenname is in my profile.

Good luck with everything, and don't live for college so much that you forget to live for high school. :p

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it, and trust me iwont forget to have fun in highschool
