"Young Scholars" summer programs at universities

Many universities offer a “Young Scholars” program where high school students take college courses over the summer. For those of you that have gone, please share whether you thought the program was worthwhile e.g. learning new material, being in a college environment, help with college apps.

Hello, my current first year at UCLA spent 6 weeks at UC Davis’ Young Scholars Program between her Junior and Senior years in High School. It was a lot of work, but she really enjoyed it. She loved the people she met and the 100% hands on experience in a lab, working with directly with the professor running the lab and his PhD and grad students. She wrote one of her admission essays about her experience and it was so genuine and you could feel how excited she was and what she got out of the program. She also really loved the people she met at the program, saying it was so nice to be with people who loved the same things she did. It made her very, very excited about college. She still keeps in touch with the professor who ran her lab : )
