Youngarts 2019-2020

so basically last week they notified the first round of finalists and if any of them can’t go they notify the next person on the list this week

chances are still low but i’ll take them

@minxyard So are you saying that this week is just them notifying people for those who couldnt go?

I think there are still chances for people an don’t have a defeated attitude quite yet! GL to everyone. When the emails come out be sure to tell everyone here on the forum so we can celebrate!!! On twitter they did say that they are still notifying finalists!!

@onepiecefreak16 yeah but of course that’s just me guessing

honestly, I’m not even that mad I didn’t get a call from YA… at least now instead of being nervous of NOT getting finalist, I’m hopeful that I’ll get merit or honorable mention (I applied in poetry). positivity train choo choo!! hop on lads

@contrapuntal Do you know if all the CNF finalists have been notified?

i’ve heard so little through this whole process from fellow novel applicants! i’m definitely feeling a bit down in the dumps about not getting a call and definitely refreshing my email every few minutes (in vain), but this forum helps a lot! at least i don’t have to go through it alone!

As I said before we can comfort each other when we get rejected hahaha I hope I get hm/merit at least since this is my last try.

@dentroelmar well, hello fellow novel applicant! what genre was your entry?

I sent out a message to YoungArts’s instagram account asking if all Visual Arts finalists had been notified. I was surprised they answered at all, but they just stated they’re still notifying finalists this week.
I share the sentiment that most finalists have already been notified. They probably just haven’t posted on social media yet.

@inflorescent it’s lit fic with heavy magical realism elements! i was a bit worried about the concept being a bit out there in comparison to what i’ve seen from former winners. i’m glad i went with my gut and submitted something i love and believe in no matter what the outcome is. i think that’s the best moral to take from the whole experience, seek internal validation first. what genre was yours?

I also think most finalists have been announced but this week they are just calling the stray ones they couldn’t contact last week. I think they respond to messages more. Ive made a comment on their insta but no answer so far. Hopefully there are still some visual arts spaces left.

@dentroelmar My submission was a fairytale retelling (so I guess we’re both a little out there), but magical realism is actually one of my favorite genres. I definitely agree! I think it’s important to remember that not winning an award doesn’t make you any less of an author. I also was worried that my writing wasn’t what they were looking for. Even if I was right, I’m glad I submitted what I was proud of and not what I thought they wanted to see.

Yes, that is the case! We received a phone call, and then an email.

Any news today?

Has anyone heard of piano finalists were announced? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I realize I’m awfully late to the game - but does it make any sense to classify this thread under “AP Test Preparation”?

I called and they said they’re notifying finalists through the end of tomorrow. ?

Thank you for calling !
