has anyone heard back for theatre??
I wouldnât loose hope just yet. They are sending it in small batches and theyâll finish tomorrow afternoon.
@Musicman101 someone said they are done notifying? did you hear otherwise?
They replied to me on Twitter that the emails have been sent. Haha I feel so worthless
@Musicman101 theyâre releasing the official list tomorrow, so emails ended today.
I asked about 5 min ago and they said they arenât done until tmr when the list is posted.
I mean we havenât gotten news of anybody winning for a while so I really doubt they still have anyone to notify. Plus we have two who claim that theyâre done.
Edit: yeah, twitter says all emails have been sent.
@hihelloo Donât feel like youâre worthless because you arenât a winner in this one competition or any other. Competitions can be tricky and sometimes are just luck. Remember the love you have for your art and keep improving and cultivating your passion.
merit in visual arts! email was sent 2pm EST
HM in classical music! Email loading was delayed so it showed up later!
@Musicman101 was it delayed on their end or yours?
@Musicman101 congrats! when did your email go through?
Havenât received anything yet so I think thatâs how itâll be. To all winners in this thread, lurking, and beyond â congrats! To all non-winners, good luck in your future competitions/events, and for us seniors, hopefully the college applications will be more fruitful.
Looking at all the performances I really thought I had a chance at hm/merit like I donât know where I went wrong
Email was delayed on my end. Came through at 4 but was sent at 2:02 pm (EST)
Congratulations to everyone who won!! You are all incredible. I know I can get really down on myself for not winning but I encourage everyone to keep trying and know that contests like YoungArts are so so subjective. Try not to take it personally though I know itâs hard ?
Congrats to all the winners!!
For all of us who didnât win anything: itâs okay to be sad, but donât give up!! YoungArts seems to choose particular styles and as weâve all doubtlessly heard many time before, is incredibly subjective. Just because we didnât win a YA award doesnât make us any less fantastical artists ( in any variety of art ) and doesnât mean our art doesnât make the cut for âbeing goodâ. We put ourselves out there and thatâs already a step in the right direction. There are so many other competitions out there and many other oppurtunities! And even those donât define us and our artâs worth! Itâs worth is what you, yourself, make of it. So, be proud of it!! You made something your imaginative brain thought of come to life through writing or art or dance or music or film or any other means of storytelling and holy heck, thatâs awesome!!!
You donât always win, and thatâs okay. Failure sucks, but one personâs opinion doesnât mean you or your art is a failure. Remember that. If you keep striving forward and never give up ( no matter how hopeless it may seem ), you will eventually make your dream a reality. Whether itâs to become famous in your craft or to simply tell a story.
Good luck to all of us ( those who will apply next year and those who canât ) in making our dreams reality. I wish you the best!
Looks like I didnât get anything. Time to finish up my scholastic entries!
Not to be a downer or anything but, they sent a few emails at around 5 p.m. EST b/c i had a few merit friends who received it way past when they said they were done.
My son received Honorable Mention in Popular Voice! We are so excited for him and proud of him. But after reading through this thread Iâm freaking out. He didnât know he had an email because he was in school, so he opened it 4 hours later. My husband and I were traveling home from a trip and I didnât have good cell service so my son didnât end up responding to the email until 10 hours after it was received. I had no idea that you have to respond immediately to have a shot at a regional program, especially since the email said to respond by December 5th! Iâm sick that I might have ruined his chances by not understanding the process correctly. Iâm a little shocked that they donât make enough room for all of the Merit and Honorable Mention winners. One article I read said 75 participated in the New York regional program, I think it was last year. That doesnât seem like very many spotsâŠ
