For my essay, I used the intro, conclusion, 3 examples method. It's pretty formulaic, but it got me the 10.

For the multiple choice, I would recommend looking over the list of the 15 most common writing errors (posted somewhere in this forum) for starters. Then just keep doing official college-board practice tests. Also, the writing questions are RECYCLED, so if you can try to find old writing practice tests to practice from, either old PSAT's or old SAT subject writing tests, you should do so as there's a good chance old writing questions will show up.

For the essay, before you take the SAT, make a mental list of good books to draw examples for your essay. I used Animal Farm on my last essay and got 12/12. Other great works to refer to include The Prince (Niccolo Machiavelli), The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald), The Jungle (Upton Sinclair), Frankenstein (Mary Shelley)....Basically, the classics. SAT graders love literature references.

Here's a REALLY good trick for the writing skills multiple choice...

If you have time, ALWAYS go back over the questions that you put "no error" for (especially if you have a disproportionate number of "E" answers). It is very possible that when you go back over and read each sentence a second time, you might catch a mistake in one or two of them that you didn't spot before.

This trick got me my 800 in the writing; I went back and changed my answer to one of the questions that I had originally put "no error" for, and since I got 80/80 in the multiple choice, the trick obviously worked for me.

you guys are amazing !!
