Thanks to a recommendation on CC this is the frother we use (and we are addicted to it!)
My treat coffee drink is a mocha. I don’t like it overly sweet so just 1 pump or an extra shot of espresso please. I used to treat
Myself once a month to a
Mocha from a local shop when I was getting
My hair colored. I’d get It with oat
Milk. When Covid hit the coffee shop started closing at 2 so I’d miss it. I recently tried a matcha latte and it took a few sips to decide whether I liked it or not. I wouldn’t order it everyday but it was not bad.
Another local shop has alot of interesting coffee drinks which I keep meaning to try. I’ve only had the Afogato which is part coffee part dessert.
At Starbucks I usually get an unsweetened green ice tea. Today I stopped in at a place I haven’t been in years and ordered an apricot black unsweetened ice tea.
Overall I’m not much of a beverage person. At all. Little to no alcohol. No soda. Water and one cup of coffee a day is my routine 98%of the time. Oh and occasionally milk.
Matcha is one of those things that you either like it or don’t. Or it takes some time to acquire the taste. Better matcha = better matcha drink. I prefer matcha in a cold drink.
Even though I love lattes and other fancy coffee drinks, and make them at home regularly, when we are out I almost always just get plain coffee. I’m too cheap to pay for them often.
Starbucks and other places that do Flat Whites: Grande Flat White with Skim Milk. Assumes either 2 or 3 shots of espresso.
Elsewhere: Latte with Skim Milk if they have it. Assumes 2 shots of espresso.
I only have coffee out when traveling because we have a great home setup. At home, I have a Saeco super-automatic and a Breville milk frother and make the equivalent of a flat white several times a day (each with 2 shots). I use Lavazza Tierra Organic coffee beans. I’m testing out the health effects of coffee.
I usually get a latte. Alternatively I will get a flat white or a cappuccino. I just got back from Australia where the coffee was amazing!
Medium black coffee. Not Starbucks, Dunkin’ or Wawa. At home Peets organic dark roast made in an electric percolator.
I’m a ‘don’t drink your calories unless it’s red wine’ kinda gal. So my coffee shop order is just simple coffee to which I add a dash of half and half. I go to Peet’s.
I did get a Nespresso machine for Christmas. Since then I don’t think I’ve gone for coffee more than once every two weeks. And then it’s because need to purchase some ground beans.
I load up on the 20% discount Peet’s cards sold Costco. When you purchase half lb or more of coffee you are offered a complimentary beverage worth up to a certain amount.
I did the math. Half lb ground decaf $10. Less 20% because of the discount card - $8.00. Then subtract the complimentary drink (now $3.25 for a small size). So the half lb ground coffee comes to $4.75.
BTW, someone did the math, and it looks like single use pods are “greener” than other ways to brew coffee.
We use a Nespresso machine. FWIW, you can send the Nespresso Pods back to them for recycling. You get a UPS bag and the shipping fee is prepaid. I don’t know about Keurig pods.
You can also return the bags to a Nespresso store for recycling (albeit only one within hundred of miles of where I live).
