Your Coffee Shop Order

I really like Tim Hortons coffee, one cream. If I go to an independent fancy coffee shop, I will request a pour over. It’s very rare that I go to Starbucks, but when I do, it’s a grande nonfat Caramel Macchiato, two pumps sugar free vanilla syrup.

Starbucks-Grande almond milk latte. Always hot. When I want to live on the wild side, grande almond milk latte with 1 pump cinnamon dolce syrup.:joy:

I did treat myself to an espresso machine for my 60th birthday, so trips to coffee shops have really lessened.

A splash of Irish cream makes even the airplane coffee palatable.

I rarely buy coffee. Mostly Starbucks when we travel. I usually get a grande latte or simply drip coffee. I’m boring.

Starbucks hot: Venti, triple (shot), nonfat milk, extra hot latte
General coffee shop: large latte, extra shot, nonfat milk, heated to 180 degrees. Sometimes I’ll get it with pure maple syrup.

I’ve been known to send back my drinks because they’re not hot enough. It’s easier to specify the temp. A barista taught me that 180 is generally the hottest you can go before ruining the espresso. :slightly_smiling_face:

Starbucks iced: shaken espresso with oat milk
General coffee shop: large iced latte with almond milk, or a large iced latte with nonfat milk and pure maple syrup

When I go out for breakfast, I do love a Café con Chocolate, or Caffè Mocha at a minimum.

When I last visited son in Seattle, he took me to VITA at KEXP where I got this:

At home, we just grind Seattle’s Best in our 36 year old Braun grinder and brew in our Black & Decker Thermal coffeemaker. I add a Splenda, dash of cream, and sometime a shot of chocolate syrup.

I spend money on a lot of things, but I have a hard time spending $5+ on a cup of coffee. I make instant Starbucks Italian roast at home and I carry those packages with me when I am traveling.

Normally a double shot espresso, half sugar in the raw.

If you are buying then 8 oz chai with extra chai and an espresso shot.

Also have a Nespresso at home which is a great machine (my wife and I prefer Arpeggio).

If @basket is buying, I’ll have a chocolate malted milkshake from the shop next door…

Reading this thread reminds me of that comic scene in LA Story

Per @mtmind 's post yesterday. Fun to see the whole scene.

Espresso is ideally extracted at about 200 degrees (+/- 5 based on grind, roast, etc.), so 180 degrees won’t ruin espresso. But milk scalds at 181, and scalded milk will ruin the drink.

If you prefer hotter you might like an Americano with extremely hot water. (Even straight espresso will cool to around 170 as it pours into a preheated cup.)

Ah. He was probably thinking about the milk. That makes sense.

I’ve been told by my ENT specialist to make sure I don’t go higher than 180, and she has suggested I generally cut back on the high temps. It seems you can damage the lining of your esophagus, which in turn can put you at an increased risk for esophageal cancer.

Starbucks “extra hot” is generally hot enough for me, but coffee shops never get it hot enough unless I specify 180.

Haha! I went back through the thread and just saw that @mtmind beat me to it!

I’m boring. Just a regular coffee with (preferably low fat) milk. I like Starbucks light roast which is not available everywhere.

I’m one of the people that doesn’t like coffee, but I still go to coffee shops and get a variety of teas. I don’t have just one order anywhere, though. I like to mix it up a little. I order different things at my favorite restaurants too. Why order the same old thing every time?

The only thing I’ve ever ordered in a coffee shop, which I go to maybe 3x / month, is the largest size chai tea latte. I’ve tried it with oat milk and with coconut milk but I prefer whole milk.

In general, I’m pretty adventurous in trying new and a variety of foods, but very unadventurous in what I’ll drink.

Dunkin has these refreshers….they are cold drinks. I like the Strawberry Dragon Fruit…and I get it once a week. I don’t get Dunkin coffee very often.

Those really into espresso missed a bargain at Musk’s twitter auction. As long as @abasket is still buying . . .

Wow @abasket is running up a tab!
