Your Common App ECs

Hey guys and girls,
Could you post the seven ECs that you are gonna put on your common applications. Which ones would you consider worthy enough to put on the app?

come on anyone

fyi, u don’t need to fill in all 7 spaces…it’s just there if u absolutely have to.

question…is it worth it to put a hobby that u don’t have any awards or anything in? and do u just list the activities as 1/line or do u go on describing each? lol, sorry, just some random questions :P

Well I think if you are passionate about the hobby add it. And I don’t know about the describing it part but I am including a resume or cover letter for more detail

I want to do JETs too…is it fun

Well we have a lot of fun at our school. Our team members are all quite intelligent and our Russian teacher is very helpful, so we don’t have to worry about practicing too much. We drink hot chocolate and eat cookies while we do the problems from the previous years. And before/after the competition, we have pizza parties with scary movies.

Good times.

I honestly don’t know. I attend a charter school, so we don’t have many clubs. The only thing I’m involved in at school is the leadership group, so I’ll definitely put that down. I’ve been volunteering at the American Cancer Society for about eight years and I’m a member of the Youth Board at ACS, so I’ll most likely put those down as well. As soon as school is back in session, I plan on volunteering at the preschool next door for a few hours every Tuesday morning.

I know I need more, I just haven’t found anything else that I feel passionate about getting involved in (I don’t like doing things just for the sake of doing them, I find that boring). I suppose I’ll have to look around more this year… I’m going to see if I can volunteer as a student librarian during the school year at the library near my house. Any suggestions for other activities/volunteer opportunities for a student that doesn’t have a lot of extracurriculars available through the school? My main hobby is writing, so that’s the main thing I’m looking for when it comes to the next activity I want to get involved in.
