Your complaints about Georgetown

I'm interested in them. What do you not like about Georgetown? Feel free to also tell me what you particularly enjoy about the school, but I've heard that the majority of students are quite preppy and showy, among other things. Please help me better understand the school...

Its Pretentious As Fu Ck!!

i was afraid everyone's be really snobby and pretentious, but that's just not true. I'm sure there are those crowds here, but if you don't like that type of person, don't hang out with them.

i dislike being written up. that's my only complaint so far about gtown

what is being written up?

MDT89, do you go to Georgetown?

No I dont, Im sorry. That is derived from something that this girl i know that goes to Harvard told me. Whenever someone would ask her how Harvard was she would look at them, scream "Its pretentious as fu ck!!!", and then walk away.

at least prospective students are getting first hand accounts of life at georgetown...

some people are pretentious here...the stereotypical joe and jane hoya wouldn't exist if there were no truth behind it. Just look past them and you'll find the same kind of awesome people you'd find at any other college. you'll find the pretentious ones at any school at Georgetown's level.

Since pretty much all freshmen live in freshmen dorms, they are substance free. So you can be written up for having alcohol, or for noise violations (After certain times), etc. Depending on what it was, you may have to pay a small fine/do community service. Generally the first one doesn't matter, but getting 2+ can be trickier.

During my interview with Georgetown the woman was really funny and told me that most of the kids dress normal (jeans and polos/shirts whatever) except they have a rolex on their left hand or an expensive necklace on their neck. haha

I would like to echo that the school isn't "pretentious as f!#$". Yes, sometimes is gets a little hubristic, but that's the school, not necessarily the students.

Any other complains I have are what you would find at 99% off other schools: don't like gen. ed. requirements (more restrictive/numerous than I thought), meal plan (goes week by week & doesn't rollover, & can only be used at one dining hall), & the fact that you change mailboxes every year, which I think is a pain and ineffecient. But again...nothing you wouldn't hear anywhere else.
