Im a non traditional (GED) student and im EXTREMELY excited for college. im going straight away as soon as i get my GED. I understand it will be a lot of work (im going for chemistry) but i believe it will be fun and worth it in the long run.

but i want to know, how did you guys feel about starting college? i start next year (if all goes well) and im stoked to say the least.

I’m worried I’ll waste a lot of time and fail to make the most of it.

The more I consciously think about how I feel, the more I get the feeling that I should be worried. Sometimes I get the impression that I have no idea what’s actually going on. That is, I seem to barely make deadlines, college mails seem to constantly get lost by the post office, and it took me like 5 weeks to realize that I could just relax and wait until orientation week to register for classes.

You should be excited. College was gazillion times more enjoyable than high school IMO.

Most people are a little uneasy about the transition, which lasts about a month or so (depending on your age, your transition may be easier), but that phase eventually passes, and then the real fun begins! Pay extra attention during the first few weeks you are there so that you become familiar with where things are, class schedules, and what to expect from each class.

Also, try not to get too entrenched in formal activities to the point where you have little time to enjoy your own hobbies. Take some time to recharge every once and a while!

Enjoy!

Okay OP. Something is really GONE WRONG here…
You have created about 56 threads in 5 months discussing major, career choices and life situations I could imagine. From dropping out of high school, to home schooling to GED to graduating with high GPA… all these makes me wonder what your REAL STORY IS?
Especially this one: (This is you asking to be chanced for all IVY’s)…

"I heard back from school and turns out I have a 3.95 (one A-) and my weighted Is 4.75 gpa,

I have 2400 on sats

I work with animals every weekend for 12 hours and spent 90 in a nursing home

Every teacher in my school will send a letter of rec to any college I want.

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES??? I DONT THINK ILL GET IN???"

I mean common now…
People here are really here to help with their stories, advice etc… most times.
In other to get a GENUINE help, you first have to be true to yourself.

@Ccco2018 I was trolling there obviously as atleast 80% of the people in the what are my chances forums do,
Mainly because I was extremely PO’d and was not planning on returning to the forum. I would have deleted that but obviously, you cant delete posts.
That said, my experience in this forum and conversing with some of the people here has helped me “find myself” so to speak. I have decided I want to do a science major, probably chemistry, to challenge myself and because its what I want to do.

Now if your not going to bring something of substance related to the topic of this thread, I ask you politely to leave. If you want to contribute go right ahead, I dont care. And it is not against the rules to ask the questions I did, or else I would be banned, so why do you seem to care about it so much if the moderators don’t?

And btw you have to be pretty darn genuine to yourself to even consider science or liberal arts with the job prospects it has, and yes I did consider a business major as 90% of all students do. But no, I probably will not take a business major.

When you ■■■■■, and someone sees it, then there is a need to call you out on it. No need to be defensive. you caught caught. Maybe you should actually go back and real all of your threads…to understand what i am referring.
Oh well, best of luck to you.
