Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 2)

I saw eggs today for $10.99! For a dozen.

I have a friend with chickens in the city and she says it is $40 for a bag of feed, and I don’t know her feed to egg ratio but probably more than $1 egg.

And what is surprising is that chicken doesn’t cost that much. Last week skinned, boneless breasts were on sale for $.97/lb, this week other chicken also on sale.

I saw a “thrifty” post once about buying Hershey Kisses after Christmas that come in silver, red and green wrapping. Use the red for Valentine’s Day; green for St. Patrick’s events, and silver whenever you need the chocolate fix.

Lots of the Christmas candy can be recycled for Valentines because of the prevalence of RED wrapped candy!

Sadly, the Christmas candy doesn’t last until Valentine’s day around here.

I did put one bag in the freezer so there is a faint glimmer of hope, but really being frozen doesn’t slow me down much. Same story with Girl Scout cookies
frozen Thin Mints are delicious.

I’ve been unpacking some stuff that’s been in storage (with the hope of giving a lot of it away) and not only do I have a lifetime supply of wrapping paper bought on sale, I also have an abundance of Christmas and Valentine’s Day paper plates and napkins, I’m sure bought on sale.

Sure saved me a bundle finding those on sale, didn’t it!

I am a bit guilty of this as well. I am going through juvenile wrapping paper at a decent clip now that I have 3 grands, but grown up paper and bows will outlive me now that I give money to kids & their spouses. They also may get one gift to unwrap, but typically a book or something small that doesn’t require much paper. I also gravitate towards bags instead of wrapped boxes now. Good to know I am not alone!

On the OTHER hand, I bought some non-seasonal disposable plates and cups at our local Goodwill for an event last week. A great place to get these things cheap! I bought a big sleeve of sturdy plastic cups similar to what I paid an outrageous $4.99 at the grocery store the week before for .99cents at Goodwill!

Around here wrapping paper yellows, mildews etc if kept around too long. Wonder how I know. Haha!

I returned several “good buys” at costco that we decided we didn’t want/need. Got H’s name brand Costco-sized Alleve with discount today so it was $16.01 for 320 pills. Seemed like a good deal to me and should last him awhile.

Back in the olden days when my kids were little, EVERY gift, with the exception of a wedding or baby shower/gift, was in Christmas wrap. It probably had penguins or polar bears or santas, but I wasn’t paying $5 for wrapping paper when I had perfectly good Christmas wrapping paper I’d scored for $.30 in January. Most of the kids liked it (or didn’t notice).

I also would buy a lot of the same things and put them in the gift closet for use throughout the year. One year the department store had Speedo bathing suits for $5 and I bought a bunch in sizes 4T to 6x (I have 2 girls, so most of the birthday parties were for girls) and later found some beach towels, so we gave those out through the year. A swim suit wrapped in Christmas paper? Given near Easter? It worked for us!

I always had a ton of swimsuits in the trunk of my car because my kids took a lot of swimming lessons and had swimming at day care. Other parents would see me in the parking lot and say “Oh damn, it’s Tuesday. Do you have an extra suit today?”

LOL. My $4 LED christmas tree may be a permanent all round year decoration.

Found this jacket at the Goodwill today that grandson can wear next winter. It is brand new, I got it for $7.58 with senior discount. In store, $62.

That is a good buy! In addition to saving money, it feels good to be “green” with reuse of clothing. (My parents accomplished this somewhat with cousin hand-me-downs, but oh so much more selection of size appropriate options at a thrift store!)

Have had a Cadillac on order for months. Car recently came in to dealer - Costco has a current deal - $1000 off the purchase of a Cadillac for members to use at dealers. Was able to apply this deal.

It was about $10

I should add that it is at least twice the size of the Mikes Bot Honey. Can’t comment on the taste. Good Easter basket item! (Lol, if it’s not stocking stuffer season!)

I don’t know about this item but I did look up differences between Mike’s and another very popular brand but cheaper brand and found they are made from different peppers. Absolutely no idea how much the difference in taste is.

We have had Mikes Hot Honey and at least two other kinds. They were all zippy
just like I like them!

Columbia sporting goods is having a sale plus an additional 30% off for their “members” (free to join). I really didn’t need a heavyweight fleece, but I didn’t own one
and now I guess I do  Also an additional 8%off by buying through mrrebates. So cost (before the additional $2 I’ll get in rebates) was $24.49. Original price $90.
