Does camelcamelcamel automatically check? I think i have a honey drop list that is supposed to let me know if a price drops. Is camel better?
I didnāt buy this, but my coworker did and I think itās the neatest idea. His mom had a stroke and has trouble seeing numbers. And also has trouble remembering things sometimes.
This phone, instead of having to remember numbers for speed dial, you can insert a picture for the speed dial number. And then he also got 2 more cordless phone that automatically programmed itself to the base phone. He said it was really simple and also easy to program to block any numbers except for friends/family.
Maybe itās common knowledge to others, but it wasnāt for me. It wouldnāt have been great for my in-laws a few years ago. They are past this point now though
That is interesting. Would have been useful for my parents. I wonder if there is a cell phone version.
Good deals on Kindles on Amazon Prime days (July 11-12). But which one do I want? I have an ancient hand-me-down Kindle, but it is so old I canāt order books with it anymore (hubby orders for me, and then book replicates to mine). What I really want to do is get set up to borrow library books through Overdrive.
I donāt mind using Kindle app at my ipad, but I donāt think I can order books through it.
My Kindle canāt order books either, but I use my iPhone to order books through the library and they show up in both my iPhone and my Kindle so I can read them in either place. Have you tried using your phone for the library?
Thanks. That was the hint I needed. For library ebooks, I needed to use the Libby appā¦ setup required selection of my local library and iput of library card# and password. I downloaded a sample ebook from Libby app on iphone, and it was available on ipad Kindle app. Turns out I can also get the book with Kindle app at ipad too.
At this point not sure if I need to order a Kindle, though the PrimeDay discount is appealingā¦. Kindles starting at $64.99. The ipad Kindle interface is pretty cool. And for travel I usually take my ipad, with a case/keyboard.
So glad that worked for you! Happy reading!!
I finally bought a Kindle Paperwhite last summer so I could read ebooks out by the pool - I had been reading them on my iPad but not in the sun. I have Libby on my iPad and use it to check out library ebooks. They are then available on the Kindle and on my Kindle apps on my iPhone and iPad.
There is an occasional library ebook thatās only available as an epub and I can read it directly from the Libby app on the iPad.
I also get one or two free books a month as an Amazon Prime member and send them to Kindle too.
Deal of the day for Prime Members: Kindle Paperwhite (8 GB) ā Now with a 6.8" display and adjustable warm light ā Black https://a.co/d/2IkWe93
Thatās the kindle I ordered in April. It was 3.50 more at the time, Amazon was running a special.
Iām happy I upgraded. I had the first version of the paperwhite. The new one turns pages faster, downloads books faster. Is a nicer weight and the font is crisper. It was a breeze to set up.
The old kindle was dying and the pages were going black. And although I could have read books other ways, the kindle is nicer, lighter and the best option For me
Another Paperwhite owner. Reading on an iPad can work out of course. But the kindle is so great in ANY light/darkness. You donāt need an extra light. Itās even more portable than an iPad. I drop mine in my purse most work days in case I have even a short time to read it.
I use Libby to download books and it prompts if I want to read it on Kindle. Only once in over 3 years have I downloaded a book and as it turns out, it was NOT a Kindle version.
Itās an extra device but to me, a worthy one.
I second everything @abasket said. Such a good price- hard to pass up.
I am not opposed to splurging on a Kindle (hubby would like an excuse for an early birthday gift), even though the interface on my medium sized ipad s large and lovelyā¦. choice of 2-column/landscape view or 1-column portrait. But Iām tickled to be over the hurdle for Libby setup, which was one of the main drivers for the Kindle search.
Per advise from hubby and this group, I probably wonāt get the cheapest modelā¦ which was my original thought when not sure how much Iād use it. Looking at the model linked above. Hubby wants me to do ad-less ($20 extra).
CC strikes again! DH and I just bought ourselves new Kindles and will pass ours on to our kids.
Did you get a case bundle too? (case + power adapter).
Another vote for the Kindle paperwhite which I got for both my girls and myself a year and a half ago on black Friday. We did not do the ad free version and it is perfectly fine.
DH ordered cases but not a bundle with a power adapterā¦not sure why. He only asked for my color preference. Iāll have to check out the bundle.
Ad-less is worth the extra cost in my opinion.
I think I have the ad versionā¦but all that means is that there is a book ad when I open my Kindle? I just swipe to open and no more āadsā until next time I open my case.
The ad is just a book showing when you wake it up. Nothing past that point. It has been a non-issue. Itās actually a bit of a bonus because itās usually based on what/who Iāve been reading. So occasionally it prompts me to check the library to see if they have the book.
same!!! Some good suggestions offered up.
I wonāt mind the wake-up ad.
Is the home screen ad banner any bother?
ā The last difference between the ads vs no ads Kindle is the home screen. A banner on a Kindle with ads may appear at the bottom of the screen. The banner will cause the rest of the screen to shrink slightly. This banner will not be present on a Kindle without ads, so the home screen can take up the entire display.ā
Since it says you can pay the same $20 later to enable ad-block, Iām inclined to be cheap and safe $20 on my order.
Not sure about the 3months free Kindle unlimited. Seems like a no-brainer, but last year I did forget about have done a trial during vacation. And my first ebook on new kindle (hopefully from library) will be a 750 page book for book club, not available on Unlimited.
