Your Local Vaccination Rates - An Eye Opening, "Where Are We At"?

This is a good point (about location where you received vax). 3/4 of my family received ours in counties other than the one we reside in, as our county did not have a state-run mega site. This might explain why my county’s rate seems lower than the state numbers overall.

When I asked my kids’ doctor’s office if they needed me to show them their vax cards so the info could get in their records, the nurse assured me “oh, the state sends us that.” When I pressed her (because D24 got her shots at a cvs, not a state-run mega site), she checked and sure enough, they had no record of it. I then asked her to check on D20 (who got hers at a mega site) and lo and behold, no record of it, either. I have very little faith in the accuracy of reporting and the state’s ability to track and report.

Because my husband and I got our vaccines in two different locations, I believe we may be counted as only having one vaccine in two different states. We told the pharmacies, but they don’t seem to have a way to record this.

Interesting! I suppose the number of people having that situation (2 different states or counties) would be not rare but also not make a major difference? Good food for thought and definitely would account for some.

New York State
County
percent of total population 59.7%
percent above 12 years old 69.3%

Just looked up Cape Cod (Barnstable County, MA) it’s coming up as less than 5% vaccinated. Is that possible?

Most of the vaccination rates for towns in the county seem to be 60+% in the “Weekly COVID-19 Municipality Vaccination Data.”

On the map Cape Cod comes up as 68% overall and 75% for the over 12 population. Of course in the summer probably half the population is from somewhere else!

I wonder what’s up with the CDC numbers.

CA’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccination Record only shows me as having one dose. I received both, on schedule, at the same location. I think there are many second doses not showing up for some reason.

Did you receive both doses at the same place?

New Mexico

State’s most populous county

State DOH reports Adults and children>16
78% with 1 shot
66% fully vaccinated

But the CDC’s numbers are lower.

I also just checked. NM has no record of my Covid vaccination because I received my shots in another state. I do, however, have a CA Digital COVID-19 Vaccination Record since I got both of shots in San Bernardino County.

As I suspected, both California and Oregon think I have had only one dose. I think there are many of us in this situation, but probably not enough to skew the data significantly.

Both doses at the same place, same booking method, right on schedule. Second dose missing from CA’s digital site. I submitted a copy of my vax record to correct it, just saying I’m likely not alone in having the second shot MIA.

I was at CVS the other day (San Diego) and there was a guy trying to find out how he could get his digital record fixed. He had both doses at CVS, but only one was showing up. I suspect this isn’t that rare. Btw, it didn’t seem like the people at the CVS pharmacy knew how to fix it.

It appears CDC doesn’t have HI data for unknown reasons. Our Dept of Health is reporting

Our state has over 58% of people with 2 shots. Honolulu county, where I live has 60% with 2 shots. These %s are out of our total population, including children too young to qualify for vaccinations.

It varies by region within the county as well. The area I live in and spend most of my time in has one of the highest VAX rates in the state.

Just an update on my county, Orange County North Carolina. We are now up to 76.7% of adults over 18 fully vaccinated, 61.7% of the total population is fully vaxed.

I have a NYT subscription and follow that data closely for my own county and family locations. NYT made Covid info available for free, so I think(?) that the ink from mathKids should work for all - Covid-19 Vaccinations: County and State Tracker - The New York Times

NYT now seems to show mostly fully vaccinated rates. (Partial is interesting too because the hope is that most of the single-dose folks are just waiting their 3 or 4 weeks for 2nd dose. )

I am pleased with my county’s numbers (about 10 points better than CO state average)… especially 65+ at 94%. Still hoping to see continued progress. Alas, the Delta variant is here - want as much public protection as possible.

Regeneron COVID-19 Dashboard indicates that B.1.617.2 (Delta) has become the dominant variant in the US, having quickly replaced B.1.1.7 (Alpha).

I have heard that entering the digital record and dealing with the web site is more difficult and time consuming that giving the shot. My digital record did eventually show up (I am told), but it took quite a while after I was fully vaccinated.

On the other hand we have not dealt with pandemics very often. Some glitches in the system are at least likely. I was still protected from COVID for the month+ from when I got my second shot until the digital record got fixed.
