Your Local Vaccination Rates - An Eye Opening, "Where Are We At"?

I was listening to a podcast yesterday about the Delta variant. I’ll admit I didn’t know a lot of specifics about it. It was eye opening - especially as daily routines are largely back to pre-covid state.

This prompted me to look up how my area is doing vaccine wise. I’m hearing and seeing that vaccination sites are reduced, and it’s a very slow trickle of unvaccinated getting in line for a vaccination.

I thought it might be interesting to get a CC birdseye view. You don’t have to review your specific location, but I suggest listing your state and then listing your county FULL vaccination rate (but don’t list your county unless you really want to). I think it will be eye opening to see how low rates are in some areas. And just still keep a sense of caution in our choices in daily life - not to hide but to realize that when you’re at the grocery store and no one is wearing a mask - that indeed, probably a portion of those people are unvaccinated.

Here’s the link I used: CDC COVID Data Tracker
Enter your state and county. Scroll down to the table and look for “% of TOTAL POPULATION” and then to the far right “FULLY VACCINATED”

Here’s mine:
Ohio
County data: 44.2% fully vaccinated

(interesting that I looked one county away- also another state - and that county is 34.9% vaccinated - nearly 10% difference!)

Michigan. My county, 53% (81% > 65). Our cottage is in a county with a rate of 33%.

My SIL lives in Georgia, in a county with a 16.6% vaccination rate. She has no plans to get vaccinated. SMH.

PA

41% for my county which was higher than I thought
46.9% for those > 12 years of age, so I’m thinking we should use that number considering younger kids aren’t eligible.
75.4% for those >65.

The county next to me where we spend a lot of our time since we’re practically on the border is better yet (and less rural TBH). It’s

45.1% of population
52.6% of > 12
84.4% of > 65

The sad news is I shouldn’t have looked up FIL’s “summer” county (where his cottage is) in VA. It’s

12.2% of population
13.8% >12
20.5% > 65. Yikes!

Then I looked up where his house is - not someplace I would consider rural at all TBH, esp not compared to around us. It’s sad. There it’s

27.1% of population
31.2% > 12
38.3% > 65.

FIL is Team Moderna. I sure hope it works for him. It’s quite scary to think about.

If you want to go with >age12 numbers that’s fine. That brings my county up to 52.2%
Still a good distance from a 70% or so goal.

It would be easier to read posts that list the numbers simply - THEN discuss after stating your numbers if you like.

Great site. I love my county for many reasons. South Central Wisconsin. Fully vaccinated as a percentage of total. 67%. But of adults over age 12, 78%

To contrast to the county where family lives in northern Arizona, 34% and 38%.

Hmm… I don’t think the site is accurate. I know we are low in southern VA, but according to the link:

Total population fully vaccinated
My independent city - 0.3%?!
the surrounding county - 18%

But the VA state health department site says:
Total population fully vaccinated
My independent city - 36.6%
the surrounding county - 35.5%

I think the VA state health department site is more accurate

The CDC data does not match Dept of public health in GA. There is no way overall we have about 50% of the population over 18 with one dose, yet not a single county has that. (with the CDC info) I dont think GA is reporting things correctly.

@ClassicMom98 the link doesn’t give info for cities only state or county (as far as I can tell, not sure what you are looking at).

In my county, about 2/3 of residents aged 16+ are fully vaccinated and just under 1/3 of age 12-15 is fully vaccinated.

This is quite good but I still wear a mask in indoor public spaces, unless I’m with a group of trusted people I know to be vaccinated. I’ve become so used to wearing a mask that I don’t mind it.

CDC numbers are close our Marin Dept of Health’s awesome numbers… (California)

CDC:
71% fully vaxxed
81% > 12
89% > 12 at least one dose

Dept of Health:
72% fully vaxxed
84% > 12
91.4% > 12 least one dose!!

Virginia is different than most states. Cities in Virginia are completely separate and independent from counties. Cities are like mini counties and thus show up in the CDC list.

County data looks great!

63.7% total population is fully vaxxed
72.5% > 12
79.5% > 12 at least one dose

California
County data for San Diego:
86.2% 1 dose
46.1% fully vaccinated
99.9% > 12 years 1 dose
48.4% > 12 years fully vaccinated

Worcester county, MA:

% of total pop fully vaxed 54%
% over 12 fully vaxed 62.2%
% over 12 with at least 1 shot 70.4

Our county is a mix of the city of Worcester, suburbia, and some more rural.

My county in upstate NY is:
64% of the total population fully vaxxed
74.9% of 18+Fully vaxxed
77.8% of 12+ at east one shot

Please list your state! We don’t all know counties across the country!

I’ll ask once but know that I don’t control how the thread functions - can we just report the facts as shown on the website (or your health department) and NOT ponder or elaborate on the why/when/how’s - just the numbers to tell an unbiased story!
