For any of you who have read some good math or science books, what book would you recommend I get for my physics teacher for Christmas? I had him last year for physics and he wrote me a nice college recommendation, so I wanted to get him something. I've read some okay books, but I was just wondering what some of you might recommend. Thanks for any input!

While I have not read it, I have heard Bertrand Russell's Autobiography is a great book. He also wrote a book on science and religion that seems interesting.

Does the guy like something other than math or science? I'd think with the 7+ hours at school each day, and grading, and lesson plans, he'd probably want something not related to his subject. I would assume that's what most of my math/science teachers would want, but maybe the guy really likes science.

I'm just saying don't confine yourself to math/science books unless you know him really well and that seems like all he'd want.

"Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman" or "What Do You Care About What Other People Think" both by Richard Feynman. Both are entertaining with a smattering of physics mixed in.

if he's really into math i would get him one of the ramanujan notebooks published by springer verlag
