Your thoughts on these 2 schools?

D is accepted to the School of Fine Arts of UMich and USC. She wants to study graphic design and film production, with an eye toward eventually going into art direction for the film industry.

Which school do you think would best prepare her? Thanks!

dont know about UMich but i've heard some nice things about USC - especially abt their film and digital media department. Its among one of the strong departments there.

Wow, congrats. Umich is a great school, (especially in MT) but with your daughter's interest I would definatly say go with USC. Ultimatly, of course, she should choose the school that fits her, but as far as the programs go, USC has an AMAZING flim school, one of the best.

Thanks, 3DACrazy & ckp ! The more we have reviewed this, the more we read about this, the more we're convinced you're both right. We just saw that USC is devoting a lot of effort into integrating the digital media into their overall art program, instead of keeping it segregated as so many schools do. This sounds much more in line with our D's interests, and looks like she's leaning that way. Thanks again.

USC Mo Def! You can do both GD and Film Prod at USC. I have Graphic Design degree but I want to study film and animation. I got in one art school for BFA program but Im still waiting on USC CNTV (MFA Anime). Sigh! I want to get in USC sooooo bad!!

animefreak - good luck!

Given the future plans in the film industry, I would also vote for USC for networking alone.
