@squ1rrel, maybe you should apply to Haverford!
Violinmom and Violamom were taken. Wouldn’t have chosen this name in retrospect - people thought I was being pretentious. If only they knew…
Based on the book by Frank Bruni, titled WHERE YOU GO IS NOT WHO YOU’LL BE
Lived in Arkansas when I joined these boards, but I did not attend the University of Arkansas.
Wish I’d chosen something else, as it sounds like I eat a lot - lol.
@Hoggirl actually, I thought you raised pigs!
Ha ha! I have this same user name on another board, and someone else made that assumption.
In the theme of college names, I could have called myself Wolverinegirl but then people might think I’m a mutant superhero.
Aunt Bea:
It’s the nickname I “earned” from a college professor in grad school. He couldn’t remember how to pronounce my name and bungled it, such that the whole class would repeat it in unison, every time he called on me (knowing that I had probably stayed up half the night, researching the answer).
He thought that:
-I was a “mother hen” (I come from a large family) since
I was always standing up for other students when they had concerns, but were too intimidated to ask.
Argumentative- He said I was “set” in my traditions, (school traditions and lobbying for our department’s participation in fundraising or spirit activities).
and stubbornness,
which fits me to a “T”.
I also knew a lot about the Andy Griffith show’s characters because we used different names and themes to discuss private cases. We used the Winnie the Pooh characters, in code, to describe our professors. He was “Owl”.
My avatar comes from being “naughty” here and “held in jail”; I think either:
@thumper1 or @mom2collegekids suggested it. Been thinking about changing the picture for a while now.
Answered this question a couple times before in the nearly 15 years I’ve been on CC. My name is pronounced atom-mom, not a-t-o mom. Nothing to do with chemistry. I thought it sounded funny–kinda like atta-mom or atom bomb. Beyond that, I’d rather not say what atom stands for. If anyone remembers me at all I’m likely known as the mom with 7 kids. My oldest had just finished his junior year of high school when I joined CC in 2005. He’s now 31, married, with a toddler. My youngest was a nursing baby then and she’s now a high school freshman!
Having had dinner at one of my all-time favorite London restaurants (MoMo) twice (2x) in the week I joined CC, and not knowing when, or if, I would return, I wanted to memorialize my dining experience - that’s when MoMo 2 x 2018 was born!
I was starting the college countdown for my older S in 2006 when I found CC. I can never come up with catchy user names, but this one has survived!
Both my sons were on CC in HS and early college. We all knew about each other.
Uhmmm… my kid is Bennie so obvious ? But to be honest, I’ve been BenniesMom1 since Bennie arrived some 18 years ago (the #1 was because I was one and done, when I had him). When I stumbled on college confidential and realized that maybe there ARE some things folks shouldn’t know, (It’s IS supposed to be confidential after all -I read that in a post) I decided to be ME, cause I have nothing to hide. If I say something about the Guidance Counselor at my kid’s school and someone at that school comes on here, I WANT them to know that it was I who said that. I have nothing to hide. I’m an open book and tell it like it is. Bottom line, anybody who stumbles on here who is a friend IRL or even an acquaintance through school, can feel free to question anything I’ve posted. They probably already KNOW all about what’s posted on here since they’re one of my Facebook friends ?
I hate my user name! Picked it because I never expected to be on CC after my D graduated HS yet here I am. I figure it will be accurate again once D is a college senior :).
Definitely wish we could change our names even if it was to “usedtobemomofsenior1”.
Mine is obvious and not too creative. I have two boys and was thinking of the old TV show My 3 Sons. (I think the traditional spelling was already taken? Can’t recall why I chose “sunz” v. “sons” )
Mine stands for la viola verde college search father lvvcsf. Clear things up?
@Ivvcsf: Yes, it clears everything up but for the correct pronunciation of your user name.
Mine is a childhood nickname. My dad called me Tatin. Rhymes with satin.
“How are things?”
“About the same.”
Mine made sense back an embarrassing number of years ago. I’m just glad that the mods have found a work-around for the latest update…been here since some college applicants were toddlers.
I’ve been using Prezbucky for a very long time – since circa 2000. I first used it on a now-defunct sports chat site.
Prez = President
Bucky = Bucky Badger (Buckingham U Badger, the mascot of the University of Wisconsin)
