<p>okay, lets do something just for fun.
what are your favorite boarding school names?
i'll start.
hotchkiss.
holderness.
the gunnery.
peddie.
the hill.
deerfield.
and loomis chaffee and
middlesex crack me up.
i'm sort of immature. i know.</p>
<p>My favorite is Avon Old Farms. Part of me wants to go just so when people ask me what school I go to, I can say "I go to Avon Old Farms". I don't know if I would be able to say it without cracking up, though. It's kind of ridiculous.</p>
<p>hahahah. i just realized i forgot choate!</p>
<p>haha choate seems incredibly difficult for some of my friends to pronounce. They can never pronounce it properly.</p>
<p>They kept going, "so, you're applying to cho-ah-teh?" or "chate?"</p>
<p>ickle, you're on a posting roll aren't you ;)</p>
<p>people here love choate because a famous person's son went there and got into Harvard and wrote a book on it lol
it's "cho-ttt" here we forget the little a sound XD</p>
<p>haha yupp.
I'm completely bored, and this is the last day of spring break for my school
i finished all my homework yesterday, so I'm just surfing CC and passing the time :)
When I look at the list of the discussion threads, I keep seeing my name pop up as the last poster. It's kind of funny.
:D</p>
<p>haha choate...hahahaha
reminds me of something i heard my friend say when he was trying to pronouce it.
ahh id have to agree thats the one that cracks me up the most..</p>
<p>but Hotchkiss is the one that's the funniest (and weirdest) for me.
because in Japanese, Hotchkiss means stapler.
ホッチキス = stapler
haha</p>
<p>haha just for fun i pronounce choate as cho - ate</p>
<p>hahhaah. stapler!
thats fantasticc!</p>
<p>haha ya hotchkiss and choate r the best names .gunnery sounds pretty cool too.</p>
<p>Whenever I mention Hotchkiss or Middlesex everyone cracks up. You would think sophomores and juniors would be more mature, but no.</p>
<p>I like Gunnery and Choate. Taft, too. It reminds me of daft.</p>
<p>Peddie! It's so cute I think.
Choate is also cute and sounds nice.
Deerfield is adorable and has a nice ring to it.
Andover sounds very neat and simple.</p>
<p>the storm king school always sounded awesome. i also liked happy valley's name, even though they've changed it.</p>
<p>Madeira........................(it just sounds cool)
The Delphian School........(because it sounds like the dolphin school)
The Kiski School..............(what the heck? and by the way that's all-boys)
Loomis Chaffee School.............(Reminds me of old people knitting)
Mercersburg Academy..............(sounds like your begging for mercy)
Perkiomen School..................(reminds me of Pokemon)
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.............(and yes this is a real school...)
Subiaco Academy.......................(isn't that like a car company?)
Tabor Academy...................(reminds me of the game taboo)
Tallulah Falls School.....................(!Tallulah!! hahah Tallulah falls on a rock)</p>
<p>and that's pretty much it for now. but i love those school names cuz they're just weird and different.</p>
<p>Northfield Mount Hermon. It reminds me of monks walking around on a hill. Mount = Hill. Hermon = hermit = living with funny clothes = cassocks = monks. Balding guys with books mumbling the word of god on a hill beats out anything else.</p>
<p>i love:
hotchkiss
choate
andover
madeira
northfield mount hermon</p>
<p>i don't love:
groton
lawrenceville
exeter</p>
<p>Oh, yeah! I love Madeira, too. It sounds so pretty and fancy. And Exeter is gross and too rigid.</p>
<p>Exeter
Exit-er
Everyone wants to leave.</p>
<p>state<em>of</em>hockey</p>
<p>i thought taht was how you were actually supposed to pronounce it!</p>
<p>cho-ate ??</p>
