<p>These were mostly sales jobs and manufacturing jobs.</p>
<p>They claim that because it doesn’t sound good to emphasize that they are cutting R&D staff when so many drugs are coming off patent but a huge number of scientists got pfired too. Abbott just laid off about 2000 late last year too and replaced them with permatemps (they post temp jobs all the time). Next to govts the last few years pharma has led the nation as #1 industry for layoffs.</p>
